Australia NT Season 16

AUSTRALIA NT: SEASON 16

Stage 1: Hills HHHHH
Stage 2: Mountain FMDMM
Stage 3: Sprint FFFFF
Stage 4: TimeTrial FFFFF
Stage 5: Cobblehills C^C^C^C^C^
Stage 6: Cobblehills FFFFC^^
Stage 7: Cobblehills CC^CCC^

4 stages in Italy. Cobblehills everywhere. Not only the random stage 6 was a flat-cobblehills, but the stage 7, which usually is flat cobbles, turned out to be Strade Bianche, in which hills are also important. Indeed it's not a good calendar for Australia. Not only the Australian TTers will be probably on their lowest level ever, but there is no flat cobbles, the other terrain in which Australia has great power with Angus Friend and Keith Hunter.

Maybe Levin, Trump and Clickett could still make a good result right now on a TT stage, but I guess that due to their age, they will be worse when the TT race arrives. Fortunately, we have some other young TT talents coming soon. Apart from the 23yo generacion of AA, the 24 yo Bud Mount is the 8th best flat TTer on game right now. I hope that Mount, Clickett, Workman and, maybe, Licuria can score good points on the TT race. We'll see.

The other positive aspect of the calendar is that the 2 last races seem quite suitable for Sam Rooney. I don't think he is good enough to win a race, but maybe he could score some good points and maybe I can consider taking him as leader for the stage 5 too, in order to fight for the individual championship. It depends on how good the young talent Marc Huling becomes, as he is now on the transfermarket waiting for his new team to be training on the final sub24 year. Anyways, maybe I'm too optimistic and he doesn't have any chance against top cobblehillers from Ukraine, Spain, Belgium or Netherlands who will, for sure, be leaders on the 3 races counting with a bunch of top riders as domestiques.

I will try my best to keep the Australian NT level closest to the previous seasons as possible. Any advice or suggestions are more than welcome. Specially if you have experience with tricky tactics for any particular race, just send me a message with your advice. NT races are very often quite unpredictable to me.

Stage 1 - Stirling - Paracombe

16 ºC

Let's hope other teams follow this sign  :P

It's clear to me that Shields is the best option for hills races. Coleman, Walkins, Fredickson and Morton can help him enough (although one of them will be probable free role), so I decided to give opportunities to other young talents. Kane Harper, who will make his debut, may also help, but he need to improve his experience a lot.

Gerard Shields, 27, Quickstepbronx 90.10
Vinnie Coleman, 33, galegospolabici 89.18
Zack Walkins, 27, Quickstepbronx 88.61
Herbie Fredickson, 26, MarquinaTeam 88.58
Tim Morton, 28, Inglorious_Bastards 87.57
Kane Harper, 24, Catalonia_Team 86.22 debut
Christian Segond, 23, cave 83.85
Bob Janson, 22, Agua_Verde 73.94
James Bush, 20, Antequera, 70.63

Excellent result ! Also nice previews and lists ! A great debut as Australian NT manager, Ophiuko !  8)

My 24yo Spanish hills specialist made his NT debut too ; Rubiera did amazing by finishing 5º, as last of the front group.

wow, Huling is a monster in Hills-Cobb! Talent 5, I presume, since Marc Ashley is Talent 5 and does not seem to be closing the gap :)

4th in the hills is a good start to your NT career for Australia.

My first new generation 19yo TT prospect, TT is a little low but that's ok.  Still a 2 out of 3 chance of ending up sacked.

Stage 2 - Savigliano - Sestriere

Thanks Vos and AA for the good words about the first race. Let's hope I can keep scratching some good points in all races.
For this climbing race, Jason Furey will be the leader. I will be happy if he gets a top10 position, but considering that TeamEuroscalt is managing the Norwegian NT, the race is probably going to be a lottery. 5 other Australian climbers are selected to help Furey. I consider the rest of good climbers were too old to be selected, as the younger ones were better than them. So then, I've selected 2 promising climbers and 1 promosing TTer (nº1 on sub23 DT right now)

Jason Furey, 27, PDM_cycling_team 92.00
Colin Mount, 29, Teka 91.35
Ryan Henderson, 29, FrançaiseDesJeux 91.28
Norm Bush, 24, Lemarche 90.44
Dudley Iverson, 25, Aurora_Australis 89.76
Keith Hamsten, 29, Manicomicos_Cycling_Team 89.22

Patrick Cann, 22, PDM_cycling_team debut
Martin Wilson, 21, WinterIsComing
Ian Abolins, 19, SPORTLIFE debut

8th is a sound result given that Furey can't be one of the best, and still close to the leading teams.

Jasper Caan   Edad : 19   Sueldo : 846
Resistencia : 64   Sprint : 67   Montaña : 5
LLano : 66   Pavés : 12   Tecnica : 38
Descenso : 17   Colinas : 30   Agresividad : 71
Crono : 4   TraEqui : 66   Experiencia : 0

Here is the future of Australian NT on sprint races. I simulated him with talent 2 and at 24yo he is as good as the 30yo Bordeneuve. Now let's hope he goes to a club that can train him properly.
