Cyclists: Cradle to Grave
« on: February 25, 2019, 06:50:18 PM »
Other FAQs also contain basic cyclist information.  I won't repeat what's there.
The information below below is more technical cyclist cradle to grave details which have been made public.

*Basic Cyclist Types*

There are five basic types of cyclists.  These (with their most important skills [in general order of importance] are).

Climbing: Climbing, stamina, downhill
Sprint: Sprint, flat, aggression
Cobbles: Cobblestone, flat, stamina
Hills: Hills, downhill, aggression, stamina
Time Trial: Time trial, flat, technique

You can also have
Tour Specialist: Various combinations on all skills (different tours have different skill importance).

From there, you get the subcategories such as Sprint/Hiller or Cobble/Hiller; which is crudely a combination of the two types.

For new players:
* If you're intending to train up new U24 cyclists, it's important to train your cyclists to specialise in one type.
* If training a tour specialist, make sure you know which type of tour/s you're intending your cyclists to specialise in, else your cyclist might end up not quite good enough for any.
* Specialised training will help your cyclists retain importance as you advance into the top two divisions, where competition in every race is tough.

*Beginning Stats*

The maximum initial stats for a newly generated cyclist is as follows.
Aggression <=79.99
Teamwork and Technical <=74.99
Others <=69.99
Sum Total of skills <=459.99
Salary <=860

Note: The maximum with training for any individual skill is 100.00.

*Teamwork Skill*

The cyclist skill teamwork isn't as it says.
All other cyclist skills are as per word meaning.

*Training*

Training is covered in this FAQ
https://cyclingforfun.org/smf/index.php?topic=260.0

*Experience gains*

A cyclist gains experience by participating in races.  Every race your cyclist participates in, he gains:
Each Race = +0.15
(same experience gain regardless of race category)

He also gains bonus experience after completing a tour.
Small Tour = +0.4
Grand Tour = +1.0

(so the total gain from a ST would be 5x0.15 + 0.4 = +1.15 experience)

Finally, a cyclist will gain another experience bonus if he races in a National Team race (which makes cyclists from active smaller nations slightly more attractive).
NT = +0.6

*Aging Cyclists*

From age 24, cyclists begin to lose trained skills, and this loss accelerates from age 31.  The loss of skills affects all skills equally, and occurs after every training session, even if you select rest as your training schedule.

The decline rate for each skill after every training session is as follows
24-30 = -0.005
31 = -0.01
32 = -0.015
33 = -0.02
34 = -0.025
35 = -0.03
36 = -0.05
37 = -0.07
38 = -0.09
39+ = -0.12

Of course, training will slow down these effects, at least until age 31-32.

*Retirement*

A cyclist retires when he either gets sacked, or his team ceases due to inactivity (or cyclist is deleted from an inactive team).  And this is my retirement from writing this FAQ.

Hello -

When a cyclist has retired, does he disappear forever, or does he join the team's Hall of Fame?  Or does he go into the team HoF only if he is already in the CFF HoF?

thanks

When you fire a cyclist, he goes automatically in your hall of fame.
But there are conditions = he must have good palmares or he must be selected for a NT race at least once.

If he does not have that ; he will not be in your hall of fame and dissapears forever.
I do not know what the criteria are for "good" palmares, maybe someone else knows.
Often the palmares do not matter, because one NT race is already good enough to be automatically in your hall of fame.

I suspect it's either:

-The rider raced for his NT at least once in his career.
OR
-It has something that remains in his "History" section, which basically are top10 in 1st div (either individual stage or tour)
