Thanks! I will post GV-values for every NT-stage.   8)

If you are asking for general GV-lists, maybe if I find time and there are enough interest.

Yes, I was referring to general GV-lists. Especially cobbles, haha

Is Konrad Petersen very far from the best hills specialists? I know he is not a specialist in pure hills but only for curiosity. :P

Good luck!!

From the best? Yes. From the selection? No. I think he was about 64-65 for this race.
However, he is a great flat-hiller and would make the selection in those races for sure!
Keep training him, maybe next season he will be gold for us  8)

Great victory, Atalm93, well done and congrats !  8)

The Australian teamcaptain was riding in your well thought out favorite-tactics for the WC on the road in CFF2.
Most of the times very good tactics, this time it was not so succesfull.

edit ; no problem of course, Australia will beat Norway later this season.  ;)
Also Norway has no good generation with just a few riders in the DT and is also a small CFF nation with 5 more teams as Australia.

Thanks Vos! It was a great start for us! We did not have the strongest leader, but went for the win and succeeded with good tactics and a great helper in Fredheim!
Unfortunately Rødland just missed the points, but we took 390 points and put ourselves in lead of the nations!

Another success for the norwegian team, we now stand with 2/2 victories! Unfortunately we had three riders just missing the points, so it could have been better, but I guess we have to be happy with what we got ;)!

Benjaminsen will be our leader for this race. He is a really good sprinter, but unfortunately he is much stronger in the short races. We are hoping he is not too tired after the long race, and can achieve a great result for Norway in the end.

We did not manage to win another race, but that was expected. Actually we are quite happy with 6th place considering we did not have any favourite today. Also great we managed to get two riders in the points with Arntsen finishing 17th. Maybe, I could have risked a little more, and finsihed a couple places higher than 6th, but hard to tell.

So we are leading the overall with 920 points, and have a good lead.  8) However, we are going to need it, because norway is, and I cant emphasize this enough TERRIBLE in TTs.  :-\
We will be lucky if we even score 10 points in the two TTs, and I cant do any tactics to make up for that either. In fact we only have 1 somewhat descent TT-rider in Norway (with luck he maybe can score points in the Hill-tt). So, I think im just going to call 8 of the biggest talents of Norway for experience for the rest of the spots, because honestly there is no point in any other than that one.   :(

1º Norway      920   36,80   2,28
2º Germany   690   27,60   1,62
3º Portugal   500   10,00   0,81

Wow, is that all we have on TT? That's insanely bad. Hopefully someone can manage to pull a decent one for the future...

Good to see my cobblers are doing good on the flat cobbles. What evaluator do you use? In de one I use Magnussen is the better one. Soon my training will switch, which will improve the GV a bit faster. The pops are a bit stuck nowadays, haha.

Yeah, I have called Halvor Marcussen as only TTer to next race, but im considering to replace him with another of our best riders to gain experience. After all, I cant see he will get any points anyway...

Im using an evaluator that I dont remember the name off (Installed it like three years ago or something, hehe)
It has basic values that give a good indication (dont know if their the best), but I do my own evaluation for every stage and one day-race and that is what counts anyway :).

Tim Michelsen   Age : 19   Wage : 838
Stamina : 57   Sprint : 10   Climbing : 29
Flat : 67   Cobblestone : 53   Technique : 69
Downhill : 2   Hills : 26   Aggressiveness : 12
Time Trial : 65   Teamwork : 45   Experience : 0

There you go :)! With an instant TT star.

Funny detail is that I didn't even pull him as a TT'er, but as a cobbler. Anyways, I will put him up for sale. He obviously need TT-training.

That's what I thought! Haha, now we just need a TT trainer that is willing to give him the training he needs. I will put him up for sale tomorrow, so he can ride the NT race next Sunday in a Norwegian team? ;). Or will you select other riders?

We lack good 20 years old TT-riders and therefore no expectations to this race. We decided to bring along a selection of our best talents in other disciplines for experience.
The only rider selected racing for glory is 19 year old Tim Michelsen! It will be very interesting to see where he places himself compared to other riders of his age!

Riemst - Sittard S1R5
(https://www.cyclingforfun.org/cff/etapas/riem.jpg)

After not getting anything in the time trial as predicted, we are eager to score points!
We have a lot of good cobblestone riders, but our best like some more flat sections, and therefore im not sure how strong we stand in front of this race. However, we will as always  try to compete for victory!

Selection
Frank Karlstad 64,91 BorinotTeam
Svenn Skau 66,00 SentinelChickens
Kurt Heggem 64,30 Flyvende_hjul
Jarle Fjelde 65,90 Thorboassonarvesen
Ketil Fossum 68,83 Thorboassonarvesen
Hallgeir Solhaug 65,80 Bolaverde
Arve Nyland 66,41 Spitz
Victor Rødland 67,33 Bolaverde
Snorre Høydal 64,67 Bolaverde

Rolf is very disappointed for not being selected :(. He's aware he is not the best hiller, but hoped his above average cobbling would grant him a helper spot for Ketil with whom he has sufficiently battled in the cobblehill stages earlier this season... He proved to be a good contender and could easily keep Ketil's wheel in the first sections...

I actually bothered to make GV-lists of our great nation! We have great climbers and cobble-riders. Hill and Hill-sprint could have been better. TTs... I dont know what to say. Please someone promote us a TT-rider???  :'(

Leo Myklebust will become bronze on sunday (so before the next NT race), if i'm not mistaken.

Ciudad Real - Argamasilla de Alba S1R7
(https://www.cyclingforfun.org/cff/etapas/argama.jpg)

Last race of the season! We have a very strong team, but maybe not the best rider of all nations as captain. Therefore im not sure what we can expect in terms of points.
I think the key will be top3 with leader and try to score points with other free roles as well.
We are no far from being champion, but the Aussies have a good lead. We will try our best.
Hard seleciton for captain, but Rolv Sele gets the responsibility due to his great experience.

Selection:
Pål Tveiten 72,42 Thorboassonarvesen
Herman Moe 71,00  Teamclaes
Konrad Magnussen 71,26 Zatarra
Leo Myklebust 73,53 CrossAndGo
Per Hovden 73,85 Laurent_Brochard
Julian Lindgren 71,20 Antequera
Arnt Tangen 71,35  Zatarra
Amund Svendsen 73,12 Zatarra

Wow! Rolv is really amazed he can go for captain. He will try his best to get this done for Norway. Winning will be hard indeed, given the great flat cobble riders in Hungary, GB, France and Belgium, but stil... with some good help!

Come on Norway!

That wasn't really what I had expected! Tactics weren't optimal apparently, but still... well done this season.

Tangen as the best Norwegian; than you have been put upside down, lol. Started too slow with Rolv and the free roles, I guess? Pity!

very nice season... Australia and Denmark win only for TT where they score more than 700 and 300 point >:(

...so you are the best NT manager in tactics :D

For next season ??
If you decide to continue, I remove my team from the candidates for NT ;)

Not what I hoped for either.

Yeah, you guess correct, I took a gamble to try to go for nr1 in the rankings! I knew it could fail (It did), but I also knew that we had more to gain, than lose.
When, I see that many nations as me did the same thing, hoping that the larger group would catch up in the flat when it didnt, actually being in front could maybe put us in battle for nr1. Pity indeed.

Sorry, it went out over a possible podium for Rolv though ;).

Yeah, pity with 2x TTs. With only 7 NT-races, 2TTs should not be a possiblity. Its just unfair. Dont know why we just cant get rid of this...

I am indeed, even though I failed in the last :D.

Im thinking of a break for next season, so if you would like to do the job, that would be perfect! :)

No guts, no glory, right! It's okay that Roof didnt get his podium... None knows how it would have been if... that doesn count. I'm happy domestique Tabgen got himself a sixth place. That's somewhat surprising actually, given his lower GV. Apparently sprint doesn't count that much in cobbling as we al think?

No pressure. But the calender is almost perfect for Norway this season!

Race 1 should be possible top 3 as you say
Race 2 We have the world champion. We should have every chance of winning.
Race 3 We have two great sprinters (top 3 should be possible)
Race 4 Only bad race (Luckily not two of them this season!)
Race 5 Should be possible top 3 as well
Race 6 We have two great sprinters (top 3 should be possible)
Race 7 Top 3 should be possible.

Good luck!  8)

Carl Martinussen, 21   80,62
Roy Volden, 21              79,64

Bjarne Oppedal, 21       77,22
Jakob Heggen, 21         76,12
Arnulf Nordhagen, 21,   76,08

but, of course, he become a very nice rider when he train hills

 BUENO pues nueva temporada.

Intentaremos ganar aun asi
Title: Re: Norway
Post by: bronx on August 18, 2019, 09:18:57 PM
Pues decidimos salir fuertes debido a que gusta mucho reventar las carreras de salida... pero no pasamos el t2 con los gregarios y.. nuestra tactica de hacer pupa en t4 no valio para nada al final

5° no me dice nada... correcto

I think Roesland should be the best rider in the peloton for this race, so hopefully you could bring another victory to Norway :).

Lobethal - Stirling (S5R1)

After two seasons of siesta, im back at the wheel of our NT-team. I think the calender is interesting for us, unfortunately we do not have the strongest hill-riders anymore, which can make it difficult to win overall. After a downfall for us in S4, we are aiming to get back on the podium. Especially stage 2,3 and 5 are interesting for us this season, where we will be competing for victory!

Stage 1 will be a tricky race for us. We have many decent hill-riders, but missing a world class leader. Truly sad that Carl Fredheim has been trained in the way he has, because he could have been the one...
Hopefully our leader Tore Steinsvik has a good day on the bike and give us a good result.
Hard to say what we can expect, we will try to get top5, but will be satisfied with a top10.

Selection:
Tore Steinsvik 85,10 CobbleCrushers - Leader
Carl Fredheim 83,30 BorinotTeam
Philip Haugen 82,46 ProdopingPong
Arthur Frydenlund 83,04 Thorboassonarvesen
Iver Nerland 84,54 BorinotTeam
Konrad Petersen   82,28 Catalonia_Team
Ivar Øverås   83,00 catapunchimpon
Tommy Matre   83,38 Spitz
Tore Michaelsen   82,00 Bolaverde

It seems I was a little too optimistic.

Our leader was not able to stay in the front in S1 even though I used an "aggressive" approach. I dont think I could have done much differerent... If he had we probably would have had a top10.
Well, i probably could have raced "very aggressive" in S1 and hoped for a place between 10-20 or "watcher" and hoped he stayed in groupe 2 in S1 with that.
But in the end, the thing is that we did not have a good enough leader to make a difference in this race.

On to the next, where we without doubt will not be in the same position!

Please already start thinking about the strategy in stage 7, LOL. The previous 3 (!) times the tactics were miserable. In the first two seasons you and EuroScalt (?) tried with Sele/Svendsen (so gambled and lost, that's OK), last season Quickstepbronx simply forgot to place tactics.

I haven't trained Sele/Svendsen/Magnussen the past 4 seasons to NOT end up at the podium in a cobble NT-stage ::).

Sion-Zinai (S5R2)

After a bad start, where we maybe played to optimistic considering the quality of our hill-riders we are back to a terrain that always have been Norways-best. Im talking about the pure mountains!
Not sure if we have the best, but we have several riders among the world top10, and both Martiniussen and Roesland are surely both among top5.
We have a luxury problem in this race, but considering Roeslands experience and the wind icon. He will ride as captain instead of the world champion Martiniussen.
Considering the hall of fame, we do not have the best climber in the world, but nevertheless with our team we go for the victory, and hopefully we can get more riders top20!

Selection:
Torbjørn Rosland Innioraths 92,79 - Leader
Carl Martinussen   Flyvende_hjul 92,19
Max Hegna   Caracoles 91,13
Roy Volden   Flyvende_hjul 90,89
Hugo Skogstad   ValeronIdolo 89,75
Morten Solås   Apuestas   89,68
Simon Ramstad   Turrones 88,92
Harry Nygård   CobbleCrushers 88,57
Jarl Ulvestad   Flyvende_hjul 87,78

Thanks Cisco. Apparently luck is absent in this season.

Our tactic goes really well in the first two sections. And Roesland sits with two helpers in the same group in S2, and along all those ending up in front in the end.
Unfortunately none of them can follow and he is alone in S3, and in S4 we have this weird split of very small groups in the 30 seconds, and Roesland ends up in a small group between all his helpers at 34 seconds...

In the end we get a 5th place and a 19th place with the free role, but it could have been much more if we had any luck with the helpers.
If you see the 2nd place (Spain), they were at 38s in S4, behind our leader, but had helper and got 2nd. We for sure lost the podium on the bad luck, and maybe the win.
I notice that all from the top positions on the race came from behind, so our leader tactic was good, we just missed the luck with how our helpers placed in the groups of this race.

Very disappointed. Oh well, move on...

For all supporters of our national team, I would like to make an apologize for the bad season we had this far. There has been personal matters in the national coach that adress part of the problem, but nevertheless I feel its on its place, and especially for a horrible flat sprint stage, that was just thrown together in the last second.

Now, finally we got a great win with Fossum in the last NT-race stage, so at least our season wont be a complete failure. Lets see what the last two races can bring.

For those with norwegian flat-cobble racers, my apologies!  :-\

As earlier stated, there has been and is a lot going on due to personal matters IRL, and due to that I simply forgot to make the election for the last race.

For that reason, I have of course no intention for running for next season, and I will not run again until I have sorted it out, because Norway deserves a NT-coach that have both the time, will and focus to get great results for our nation!

Hopefully I can again in the future, take on the great responsibility again and make up for this bad season.

@agtxla. Thanks, and you better do, because well... good luck!  8)

Yeah, kind of disappointed in here, given the fact that Svendsen should've had a chance on a medal.

Anyway, sorry to hear about your RL-problems. I hope you've sorted them out soon enough!

Good to see new lists  :)
Your HV percentages must be quite different from the medal. On the DT, Longva is just one position after Tor Steine (27th), being the 3rd best norwegian HV. The first is Borgen on the 10th position.
