Mount is just one spot behind the Belgian winner in the climbers ranking  ;)

Just joking, was a real battlefield these mountains.
I did not notice that, a very impressive victory of Suenens.
Although I cannot imagine he started harder than Mount. Almost a fact he did not, otherwise he could not win with 5 EP start in a windy race.
So my conclusion that the weather icons counted a lot in this race, is now proven by you again, Rico, because Suenens had an active icon.
Thank you for supporting my race analysis. ;)

Something else ; of course a great victory of Suenens, not the first time CobbleCrushers scores impressive points with Belgium.
But it is worrying that Belgium does so well in the first 2 NT races, because their point rich races still has to come.
You are doing also great with the Netherlands, although in contrast to Belgium I expected that (a little less than the lead now, but expected).
And I assume the Dutch will do great in the upcoming NT race 3 ( with Cruyff and co ).
But the focus of Australia is on the podium, maybe better now to focus on other rival countries because NL and BEL are probably too good.
At the moment Australia has the same amount of points as rival Spain, so far so good, because there is also a flat TT this season.  :)

RACE 3 : HILL-SPRINT in AUSTRALIA

26ºC

Lyndoch, South Australia ( 58km northeast of Adelaide ),
Yes ! Finally a NT race Down Under ! 8)
Again Australia has a young 24yo teamcaptain, and he should be good enough to score points.
Although this race is difficult to predict because of the wind. But the Aussies are extra motivated in their home country,
and the many thousands of spectators have high hopes for a good Australian result in this very first hill-sprint NT race in CFF3 history.

Six cyclists have already been selected : The nrs 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 according to my estimated GV percentages.
The nr 5 is of an in-active team, so it is uncertain if he will be selected ( I rather select cyclists of active teams ).
But he has a chance, because due to the wind ánd due to the importance of this race, probably I will select a few helpers more.
Also the 21yo sprint toptalent Blair is already selected, and maybe there is one place left for another young toptalent.
That even could be a 19yo, so send your scout to Australia.:)  Later this week the selection will be completed.

Australia NT selection :

Ryan Pierre  ( 24 ) Shiro_Lions
Oliver Stamer ( 27 )  FaltososDeChigre
Brent Hunter ( 25 ) FrançaiseDesJeux
Stu Woods ( 29 ) Baskonia
Derek Nelson* ( 29 ) Yvo_Meppelink_ProCycling
Jasper Blair ( 21 ) Manicomicos_Cycling_Team

Tim Malone??  ::) ::)

Maybe is not as good as Jasper, but is quite good!! or Wilt that has wind badge...hehe

P.S: I was talking about sprinter in general, not for this race in particular, hehe, Tim is better for flat sprints, Will a bit better for hills sprints

Wilt Frances* ( 71,66 ) and Tim Mallone ( 70,76 ) were both already in the picture.
Although it is very doubtfull if Frances will be selected, and almost sure I will not select Mallone.

There are many better helpers, for example 7 not-selected Australians have a GV that is above 81.
So, the only reason for a selection is the toptalent status, and that could be also another type of cyclist than a sprinter.
And maybe there is just max. one place left.
But for sure Frances and Mallone are in the picture, even in other races as potential xp-cyclists.
Luckily they have fierce competition to get an xp-selection. :)

Also good to know that Australia has a hill-sprinter on nr 3 in the u23 Dream Team, for sure he is also in the picture.
Although I have some doubts about him, it looks like he does not get the right training to become a real top hill sprinter.
Maybe I'm wrong, I will notice it this week. And besides him, many other good Australian talents are also in the picture.

Also it is possible to give an older cyclist an xp-selection.
For example the 28yo Angus Friend is also in the picture despite he is very experienced,
because he is the main Australian this season who tries to become the individual world champion.

Yes, I pamper/spoil him a lot.  :-*
Most of his NT selections are because of me as NT manager in previous and this season.
But that is my xp-cyclist policy (also in CFF2) :
a real supertoptalent gets pampered/spoiled, and only if his manager trains him (almost) perfect and gives him enough experience by racing.
Jasper Blair meets those conditions for sure.

By the way, maybe fun to know ; Blair has a by me estimated GV of 74,30 for this race.
Despite this is very low (and very high for a 21yo), he gets a helpers role to see if he is already good enough to be of use.
And tell him if he finishes as last again, I will not pamper/spoil him anymore. :P

Good results in NT race 3  :), only Hungary and Norway scored more points.
8    Ryan Pierre
13    Oliver Stamer

Not entirely satisfied, because teamcaptain Pierre dropped out of the front group in s3 while best helper Hunter followed that group of 18.
Also helper Cahill and free role Stamer could follow.
But Pierre had back-up helpers in s3, the Woods twin brothers, and their group was just 0:17" behind.
In s4 the gap became bigger with 0:20" but still Pierre had very important help of Stu Woods and Cahill.

Too bad Pierre dropped unexpectedly in s3 and could not profit of best helper Hunter, who finished as 21st just outside the points.
Otherwise a much better result was possible.
But despite it was not a perfect race, of course satisfied with the good results. In theory there are many better rivals.
It seems to me a lot of countries had problems with the tactics and/or the wind.

Australia moved up 4 places and now on a split 6th place in the season ranking with already 450 points.
Next week a flat time trial in Switzerland. 8)

Well, "great" is a bit exaggerated when the teamcaptain drops in s3 and is 2nd( ! ) in the group of nrs 19 to 54.
That he was ranked as 2nd in that s3 big chasing group shows that if he had a little bit more luck, he would be on the other side of the cut.
And if on the other side of the cut, he maybe / probably even could sprint for victory in the first ever NT race in Australia.
Well, it could happen with the hard wind, and one free role did great and scored some extra points.

Jasper Blair was not good enough yet in a 55200 helpers tactic,
but it is promising that he finished very good as 133rd on 1:08" what is more than 4 minutes faster as the last group.

About the NT race of next week ;
Already selected are the 6 TT-specialists of Aurora Australis who in previous season broke the CFF record of most points in one NT race.
For sure the final 3 places will be TT-specialists too, I have plenty of good choice. I did not look into this NT race yet, so they will be selected later.

You are very hard with yourself...you have to see the full picture. Pierre is 24yo and was 8th! the best 24yo guy, looks promising for the near future.

BTW, we have a U23DT sprint-hiller...is he good experience already for not calling him yesterday?
