Australian National Team S26

As best Australian manager on the previous season, again I was automatically selected as NT manager. I am happy to do the job although my motivation is quite low due to the last season record and that I am now focused on my team.

It is not a bad calendar for Australia, 2xclimb races is good, considering the good amount of Australian climbers. It will be more difficult than last season though.

33 ºC

Australia NT selection:

James Bush (30) Antequera
Paddy Friend (29) JGMTeam
Derek Jons (24) RHyNeStOnEs
Nate Gailes (30) Elgrand
Rob Mitchell (28) Villavante
Callum Carpenter (26) Rekutxuteam
Natham Middleton (24) Teamclaes debut

Young talents:
Rick Cann (23) Teamclaes
Andrew Morse (22) Plopsala

Results:

15º Paddy Friend 70 points
18º Rob Mitchell 30 points

Bad race in which our leader James Bush had a mechanical on the decisive S1 that condemned him for the rest of the race. At least our free roles made some points.

Australia NT selection:

Stu Vaughn (26) JGMTeam
Garret Mitchum (27) Manicomicos_Cycling_Team
Martin Wilson (31) ZG
Barry Carpenter (28) LottoGranadier
Henry Footman (30) BLOEMENAANDEMITTE
Garret Woods (28) FlyEaglesFly
Paddy Hines (25) Flandria debut
Norm Bush (34) Gofioamasado
Rick Cann (23) Teamclaes

Results:

16º Martin Wilson 60 points
19º Stu Vaughn 20 points

Another bad result with our leader Vaughn being left behind in T1 but surprisingly not reconnecting in T2 or T3. Despite being in a second group 43'' behind in T3, somehow he managed to end 19º. Martin Wilson made 16º as free role.

It seems I spent all my luck last season. Let's hope it gets better for the sprint race.

Is Rick Cann selected as a young talent or is he selected to try and help the team?

Kind of both. He wasn't the 9th best Aussie for the stage but he was 12-13th, so he will definitely help.

Australia NT selection:
Jonny Alfier (29) Innioraths
Lenny Taylor (28) RHyNeStOnEs
Tod Henderson (33) Aurora_Australis
Gilbert Johnston (28) JGMTeam
Eric Armstrong (29) TTeam
Nobby Licuria (33) Aurora_Australis
Billy Janson (28) OphiukoCT
Kirk Clinton (33) Aurora_Australis
Alex Trautemberg (28) ChampsElysees

Lenny Taylor 130 points
12º Nobby Licuria 100 points
14º Billy Janson 80 points
18º Gilbert Johnston 30 points
19º Alex Trautemberg 20 points

Not a bad result for Australia. 8 out of the 9 riders made points, with Kirk Clinton finishing 21º after being all the race between the first 20. A total of 860 points for Australia, followed by Portugal, with 735 points, which seems likely to take control of the NT TTs from next season.

On the general team classification, Australia takes the lead with 1380 points, followed by Portugal with 1070, who seems to be our main rival this season for the final championship since the 3rd is Netherlands with 650 points.

VICTORY! Great race again, as always gambled a bit with the tactics (and even with the leader due to his weather bonus) and I got lucky. Thanks Vos!

GREAT VICTORY of Alex Ablett !  :)
And 3 other Aussies finished as 12º, 13º, 14º what caused that Australia scored by far the most points in this NT cobblehills race.
Now Australia has a very big lead in the season ranking ; you are doing an amazing job, ophiuko !  8)

Not a bad result for Australia with 310 points which brings us to a total of 2260 points. We will be able to bring experience to some young talents on the last race, including some u24 flat cobblers that may have the chance to be leaders.

According to me you can call this ; great results.  :)
Because Australia scored the most points of all nations in this windy mountain race,
ánd it seems to me you secured the world championship ; nr2 Portugal 970 points behind, and nr3 Switzerland 1.360 points behind.

And indeed ; the best Australian flat-cobble specialist is a 23yo, Gilbert Ray, the nr32 in the flat-cobble ranking ( 3x 23yo's are better ).
He and the very low ranked 25yo Rooney are the only 2 Australian golden flat-cobble specialists at the moment.
Let's see what the young Australian team can do in the last race of this season.
No pressure, because no points are needed ( I don't expect an extreme surprising miracle race of Portugal ).
But officially too soon to congratulate you already with another excellent NT season ánd another amazing NT world championship.
It will be the 9th WC title in a row of Australia !  8)

Australia NT selection:
Gilbert Ray (23) Thorboassonarvesen
Donald Odom (32) CajaRuralZamora
Trevor Rooney (25) ROCKYBALBOARACING

Young talents:
Maurice Hunter (24) SPORTLIFE
Rick Cann (23) Teamclaes
Rick Herd (23) SPORTLIFE
Sammy Alfier (23) Facha_Bartolo
Steve Boit (23) Wizards

Results:
18º Gilbert Ray 30 points

Some nice points from a 23yo to close the season in 1st place with a total of 2290 points and 2 race victories. Next season I won't have time for the NT, so if anyone wants the job that would be great. Otherwise, Vos might volunteer for it.

Australia lose at least one young cobbler? (Daniel Rooney should be age 22, was at WiC).

Btw, Steve Boit has 1 or 0 talent, he's not going to be a growth prospect.

Daniel Rooney is not good at all. It was mentioned on the chat that he was low-talented. Also, he was trained in hills, so not fit for a flat cobble stage.
Steve Boit may be low talent, but he is currently ranked 4th best Australian flat TTer under 28yo (and still 23yo so he will improve a bit on the last stages), so I thought it was worth giving him the exp rather than domestiques in other terrains, because he is more likely to score points in the future.
