US Nat team season 22
« on: January 18, 2022, 03:37:42 AM »
S22 RACE 1: Cusset to Mont Brouilly (France)

Best results for the team:

7 Gilbert Workman (Thorboassonarvesen)
54 Ryan Granaman (Plopsala)

Comments: I had Workman ride 22125 which resulted with him having help in all sections and with section times of :22 for S1, :31 for S2, :33 for S3, :31 for S4 and :12 and a 7th place finish for S5.

In the team standings, the USA is in 8th with 150 pts.  Hungary (375 pts), Estonia (360), and Spain (250) are the current top three.  Four-time defending champs Australia had an off day and sits in 14th with 40 pts but we all know a significant point explosion is forthcoming for the Aussies on the flat TT on 6 Feb, unless the team manager forgets to enter any riders.  LOL.  Yup, not going to happen, so we'll all be relegated to fighting for #2.    C'est la vie.   :D

Congrats to Australia for winning its 4th consecutive team title and its umpteenth overall. The Down Under Dynasty could go on for a while.
Thanks  :)

Indeed, I guess the Australian teamcaptain had a  heat stroke in this race with a temperature of 40ÂșC.
He started harder than the USA teamcaptain, but could not follow the big front peleton despite being one of the top favorites.

The upcoming mountain race is interesting, due to the storm, and probably the race that suits Australia the least of all 7 NT races.
The USA improved in the mountains, because I see that there is another 24yo top climber, besides my 26yo American top climber.
Unfortunately there is not a flat section in the upcoming mountain race, what would be very benificial to Beckham.
But I guess that in this stormy NT race 2, all NT managers have to expect the unexpected, including many surprising results.

Good luck this NT season 22, Kekipi !

S22 RACE 2: Ulrichen to Grimselpass (Switzerland)

Best results for the team:

15 Kevin Norris (Valderend)
33 Matt Janson (meloneros)

Comments: Kevin Norris, 24, rode as captain and Ryan Beckham, 26, rode free.  I'm not sure what happened to Beckham because he finished 3:33 in arrears and in 133rd place.  Could it be that I neglected to assign him tactics hence he rode 00000?  Damn.

S22 RACE 3: Bellinzona to Bellinzona (Switzerland)

Best results for the team:

18 Bruce Saucedo (Zatarra)
39 Kane Crickton (meloneros)

Comments: Saucedo, 32, as captain and Crickton, 27, rode free. I was hopeful that only 1EP was needed for my captain in the second section but that was not enough because he was in chase mode there (@ :24) and for the rest of the stage (@ :35 for S3 and @ :27 for S4).  The good thing was that helpers were always available which seemed to have made a difference and led to his placement in the top 20.
