Longo Borghini finished solo as 2nd on the Monte Nerone, and she is the new GC leader.

Vos is still the GC leader with 1 more stage to go.

Milan sprints to stage 8 victory.

programma della stagione 48 =

1.   Campbell Town  FFFFH  132 km

2.   Colombia  MMMMM  265 km

3.   Emilia-Romagna  FFFFF  173 km

4.   Adelaide  TT-FFFFF  88 km

6.   Aix-en-Provence  TT-FFFHF  27 km

7.   Poreč - Trevesio  CCCFC  234 km

It is difficult to predict what is possible in this NT season schedule with a rare hills-time-trial in it.
Italy should be strong in 3 out of the 7 races = mountains & flat-TT & cobblehills.
Hopefully enough points in the other races to compete for at least a podiumplace in the final season ranking.
Again a WC title might be hard to achieve in this NT schedule, but I will try anyway.
  :)

Everyone good luck with scouting in Italy !  :-*  8)

GARA 1 : Campbell Town

9ºC

Glenelg, beach-side suburb of Adelaide, Australia,
It seems that Italy has no top contenders for this flat-hills race.
But all 7 Italians with a golden hills icon, have a good flat as extra, and 3 of them are ranked as flat-hills specialists.

Even though there is no wind, this still is a tricky tactical race due to the 4 flat sections.
But if the tactics go well, it should be possible to score points.

Merlier wins stage 3.
But the picture of today, is the hard crash of Philipsen during the intermediate-sprint. Unfortunately he had to abandon.
Philipsen was 18x picked = by 75% of the CFF participants. And he was 8x picked as green jersey winner.
Also in the final, there were 2 hard crashes, but everyone involved, could finish somehow. Hopefully nobody with DNS tomorrow.

I'm aware of that you did not had any picks in the Giro, and thought of leaving that Giro"result" out.
But "technically" you did participate, and something is better than nothing, in my opinion.

You award yourself just 2½ stars for this TdF ?
Well, it seems the "unknown bookmakers" ;) have a different opinion about you, the nr 4 of previous season,
who has 3 big tour victories on his palmares, incl. TdF victory, ánd TdF podiumplaces ánd top10 results, ánd most total stage wins.
Good luck in this TdF, AA !
