FAQ / Training Camps
« on: February 25, 2019, 06:22:00 PM »
Basic info on training camps is on the CFF training camp page:
http://www.cyclingforfun.org/cff/concentracion.php
I won't repeat what's there.  This FAQ is mainly to  clarify common questions people may have about training camps.

*TC Bonus Once a Season*

A cyclist can only have a TC bonus once per season.  Note, the timeframe is for when the cyclist has the bonus, not for when he was in the training camp.  A simple table might make things easier to understand.

Quote
   Sent to TC (before TS)      Exit TC (after TS)      TC bonus starts (race)      TC bonus ends (race)      Can use TC next season?
   62      76      76      90
   63      77      77      91
   64 > 77      78 > 91      78 > 91      91
   78      1      1      15
   79      2      2      16
*TS = Training session (TS session number is always prior to the race of the same number)

If you send your cyclist to a training camp during TS days 64 to 77, he'll have the TC bonus for less than 15 race days.
Note: If the cyclist has already used his TC bonus this season, you can send him to a training camp after training session 77.

*TC Time of day*

You may have noticed above, it's mentioned that the training camp's 15 days is counted from the same time as the game's normal training sessions (1:00am & 7:00am).  What this means, is that if you enlist your cyclist to a TC before this time, your cyclist will only actually be unavailable for 14 races, not 15.

*Bonus to above 100 skill*

The TC bonus is the one time when your cyclist can have over 100 in a skill.  So, if your climber's stat is normally 99, with the climbing TC bonus, he can go into races with 102 in climbing (or even more with staff TC bonuses).

*Changing Staff*

If you change your masseur-doctor halfway through the TC bonus period, then the new Training Camp values will apply to the remaining races.

*Selling Cyclists & TC Bonus*

Quote : "If a cyclist is sold... he will loose the bonus (if the bonus is still active). However, he will be able to go again to the training camp."

In other words, the old team could race the cyclist with the TC bonus active for 14 days before he was sold, and because the full 15 days wasn't used by the old team, you can put the cylist into another training camp.

*Other Questions*

How much does your masseur-doctor TC value increase a TC bonus?
Don't know.  This is apparently hidden, and hasn't been made public.

If I have a cyclist who's in a training camp until after race 33, can I sign him up for race 34 while he's still in the training camp?
Yes

Are training camps much good?
Division 1 teams swear by the bonus, mainly because every single point of cyclist skill counts (plus there's an income to cost ratio to consider).
But for division 3?
I could show a page of maths, but economically, TCs in div3 won't make a profit in a majority of situations.  If your cyclist would finish 4th in a Grand Tour, then finishing 3rd (>break even) or 2nd (>€35k profit) may work, but if your cyclist is finishing 15th, then sending the cyclist to a TC will lose you money.
Of course, maybe money isn't the prime consideration, so it's up to the individual.

Is it useful to send u24 cyclists to a training camp:  Short answer.  Not before age 23.
Longer answer.  The TC bonus is temporary (15 races).  A cyclist will gains zero long-term benefit from a training camp, it's a temporary bonus only.  Besides, u24 cyclists should be for long-term gains, not short-term results.  Any points a young cyclist gets is a bonus.  Plus, a young cyclist won't make up the cost in improved race results.  If you want to help your young cyclists, then correct normal training, correct staff, correct racing, is the way to do this.  TC is a short-term bonus only.

Note : TC = Training Camp

FAQ / Staff
« on: February 21, 2019, 08:39:33 PM »
These two pages contains basic staff information.  I won't repeat what's there.
http://www.cyclingforfun.org/cff/tecnicos.php
http://www.cyclingforfun.org/cff/ayudaeng.php
Most of what's below is more technical information which has been made public.

* Hiring & Firing & General *

* You may hire staff members at any time. The staff market has new available staff appearing 6 times a day (every four hours starting from 0:38AM); with those not hired within a day disappearing.
* Firing a staff member costs the following
1st division: 30 weeks of sacked staff member wages
2nd division: 15 weeks wages
3rd division: 10 weeks wages
4th division: 7.5 weeks wages

* However between seasons, you can fire a staff member for free.  The season finishes on a Thursday 5:00am (after race 91). The game updates at 00:00 A.M. From this moment till the next Monday at 5:00 A.M (when the new season starts), it costs zero to fire your staff.
* Staff Retires at age 65
* Staff attributes don't change with time or any other events.

* Doctor & Masseur *
* Cumulative Fatigue & Health Loss*

* HEALTH POINT LOSS TO COMPETE
With no doctor or masseur, your cyclist will lose 20 health points with every stage he races.  This makes a doctor's & masseur's combined cumulative fatigue score extremely important.  Their combined score in this area will reduce race health loss by the amounts below.

00 to 05           06 to 15         16 to 25         26 to 35         36 to 45      46 to 55
    -20                    -19                  -18                  -17                  -16               -15
56 to 65           66 to 75          76 to 85         86 to 95         96 to 105
    -14                    -13                  -12                  -11                  -10
106 to 115     116 to 125     126 to 135     136 to 145     146 to 155
        -9                    -8                    -7                    -6                    -5
156 to 165     166 to 175     176 to 185     186 to 194     195 to 202
        -4                    -3                    -2                    -1                     -0

Therefore, if the sum of doctor-masseur fatigue is greater than 194, your cyclist doesn't lose health when competing (Note: Can personally confirm that 99 & 96 = 0 health loss in races).

* Recovery & Health Gain *

* HEALTH GAIN POINTS TO REST
With no doctor or masseur, your cyclist will gain 10 health points with every training session he rests from.  A doctor's & masseur's combined recovery score will increase this by the amounts below.

  00 to 09         10 to 29         30 to 49          50 to 69          70 to 89       90 to 109
     +10                +11                  +12                  +13                  +14               +15
110 to 129     130 to 149     150 to 169     170 to 189     190 to 202
     +16                 +17                  +18                 +19                  +20

(Note: health doesn't affect training effectiveness - only race effectiveness)

* Form *

* Cyclist's Form with no doctor or masseur
- Less than 5 stages will be raced with 90 form.
- 5 to 14 = 93 form
- From 15 to 24 = 100 form
- 25 to 34 = 92 form
- From 35 to 44 = 87 form
- From 45 to 54 = 82 form
- More than 54 = 75 form

(note : form under 90 will reduce training effectiveness)

* Form Gain
A doctor's & masseur's form benefit is calculated separately at
1 - 9 = 0 bonus
10 - 29 = 1 bonus
30 - 49 = 2 bonus
50 - 69 =3 bonus
70 - 89 = 4 bonus
+90 = 5 bonus

This means a doctor with 11 form & masseur with 31 form [42 total] will gain each cyclist a +3 form bonus; but a doctor & masseur both with 29 form [58 total] will only gain each cyclist +2 form.
+3 form is important, because it means a cyclist can be in 44 races without acquiring training effectiveness penalties (instead of 34).
+8 form (ie doctor 55[+3] & masseur 92[+5]) means a cyclist can be in 54 races without acquiring training effectiveness penalties.

Just a reminder that low form will also reduce race performance (as does low health).
(note : form can't go over 100%)

* Training Camp Bonus *

Normally, with no staff training camp skill, your cyclists will gain +3, +2 & +1 bonus in three skills (depending on training selected) for 15 race days after completing a training camp.
Doctor & Masseur training camp skill simply provides your cyclists with an extra bonus for 15 race days after completing the training camp.

(Note: amount of increase hasn't been revealed)

Mechanic
* Breakdowns *

* "Breakdowns" has influence in all sections and all stages

Based on Skuk's & Pantani's explainations:
The system works like a random lottery.  Each race section, your cyclist will have a random luck number (say from 0 to 100).  A luck number of 0-5 will equal a fall, whilst a luck number between 6-10 equals a mechanical breakdown.  As such, in this lottery, your cyclist may have an incident 10% of the time.
00 to 05           06 to 10         11 to 100
     fall              mechanical        no incident
(My Note : Actual accident chance may be different than stated)

However, if you have a mechanic, his breakdown skill increases the possible maximum luck number, say from a maximum of 100, to a maximum of 200.  What this means is that with more numbers in the luck lottery, the chances of drawing a bad luck number (0-10) is reduced.
00 to 05           06 to 10         11 to 200
     fall              mechanical        no incident
(My Note : Actual accident chance may be different than stated)

* Equipment Improvements *

If you have a mechanic/marketing manager, his equipment improvement/equipment skill will determine the likelihood of your equipment improving each (real) day (every second game day).

According to the old Spanish forum (from CCF2), this works on a luck lottery basis, the higher skill your staff has, the more likely your equipment will improve.

If there are 500 numbers in the lottery.
Zero skill = zero lottery tickets = zero chance of equipment improvement each (real) day
50 skill = 50 tickets = 10% chance of equipment improvement each day
100 skill = 100 tickets = 20% chance of equipment improvement each day

(Note : Actual equipment improvement chance may be different than stated)

This chance appears to be individual for each staff member, so you might be lucky and gain two equipment improvements in one day, or be unlucky and not gain any improvement for 5 days (even with max skill).

FAQ / National Teams
« on: February 21, 2019, 08:31:42 PM »
* About NT Races *

* At present, there's a single NT team.  In the future, there may be a NT team for young cyclists.
* There are seven NT races per season per category.
* Races are held every Sunday evening (CFF time).
* Races are varied throughout a season for different skill types, and each season has different races.

* About The NT Coaching Position *

* The coach's job is simply to pick the best national team for each international race, and set the tactics for each race.

* Nominations & Voting *

* Nominations opens prior to the last week of the season (my note: will add exact day later).
* Voting begins from the Monday (my note: check & will correct if this has changed) after the opening of nominations (last week of season).
* Nominating & voting is open to teams in the top 3 divisions.
* You can only nominate &/or vote in your own CFF country.
* Only your first vote counts.  Once you vote, you can't change your vote, so make sure you vote correctly first time.

* At the end of the season (after race 118), the winning nominees take their places to be the new/continuing national team coaches for the upcoming season.

* If No Nominations? *

* If there are zero nominations for a position, then the top ranked manager in the country who doesn't have a NT position will be selected into the position by default.
* Note, this rule had changed from a few seasons prior, to avoid a repeat of a manager holding two positions at the same time.

* Cyclists *

* A maximum of 9 cyclists can be selected for any race (note: NT manager should always select 9 cyclists).
* Participating cyclists gain experience at the following rate
Open NT race = +0.6 exp[/color]

* Cyclists finishing in top 20 of a NT race may gain international fame (see stores for effect), and also gain a small increase in his wage.

* Attributes Affecting Race Performance *

Cyclist attributes which affects cyclist performance in NT races
* Primary skills (from stamina to experience on team sheet).
* Weather bonuses

Cyclist attributes which don't influence cyclist performance in NT races
* Form
* Health
* Training camp bonus
* Staff
* Bike equuipment
* Races already done this season

In other words, only the cyclist's primary skills are important in NT races.
(Note: NT coach tactics is the other determining factor)

* NT Race Points *

1st = 300 points
2nd = 250 points
3rd = 225 points
4th = 200 points
5th = 180 points
6th = 160 points
7th = 150 points
8th = 140 points

vvv
20th = 10 points

* These points are added to both the cyclist's and country's international points tally.
* If two (or more) cyclists from a single nation gains points, the country is awarded points from both (all) cyclists.

* Other *

* Where a NT coach seriously abuses their position, their position as NT coach may be transferred to another manager.  Complaints about a NT coach should be factual, and not just because 'your' cyclist didn't get selected.

Suggestions / Different Nations
« on: October 28, 2018, 02:40:52 AM »
In the current CFF, several nations are unlikely to have any participants playing from that nation.  With the start of the new game, maybe it would be useful to replace these nations with others that are more likely to attract participants.  Maybe Latvia & Estonia are two such nations that could be replaced.
