Australia NT Season 6
« on: November 22, 2019, 11:44:14 PM »
AUSTRALIAN NT - Season 6

Grand Pacific Drive : NSW - near Wollongong

Welcome to season 6.  There's one significant difference to last season, and it's not good for us.  The race 6 flat hills (which we scored 260 points mainly thx to a then 6 star hiller - I'd love to see what on earth other NT managers did there) has been replaced with a flat-climb-dh race; so our starting position is probably -260 points from last season.  It's possible 23 year old Clickett &/or Pinkney will make their debuts on the NT scene with points in the TT.  There's also 23 year old cobbler Angus Friend, of course given that we gained a better then expected 240 in the flat cobbles last season, well we'll see.

Race 4.  Australia holds the record for most points scored in a NT race (815), and this season we'll be seeking a new record that will never be beaten [NTs will begin to become less gainful after the current 23 year olds from numerous CFF countries have another season of training in them].

Btw: Current cyclist ratings by my calculations (click attachment below).  Calculations for Hilly-TT still not very accurate, but is a guide.  And the Grand Tour ratings was put in to fill the spot, it shouldn't be taken as accurate.  Ratings for 19-22 year olds to come.

Greeat rankings! Good to see there few of my guys in the top part. For races like Lombardia Joe probably is one of the best in the game, but we didnt have the chance to see a race lika that in NT.

Flat : 56   Cobblestone : 27   Technique : 20

It's great to see Angus Friend at the top. The only 23yo at the top of any category.

It's good to see, only pity is that his cobbles is already at 100 meaning a little lost potential; although given the poor training I've seen in the game it's hardly the most significant one.

I'd expect to see it on some type of rotation, although I'm not sure how Oska has the rotation system worked out.
Btw: I notice my maths was out of the Climb-Hillers; it doesn't affect the order of cyclists, just the final sum (I apparently can't count).

Race 2

Quote
Selections :
Anthony Garza   Spitz   24 (note, more experience would have given him leader position)
Daniel Lucas   Albero   24 (free role)
Kent Carey   Manicomicos_Cycling_Team   24 (leader)
Nate Henderson   AJFactoryCycling   24
Scott Springsteen   Manicomicos_Cycling_Team   24
Steve Carey   Manicomicos_Cycling_Team   23

Three more to be selected, most likely between Jasper Ablett, Trevor Winger, Aaron Palmer (all aged 23), Dan Gilbee, Kevin Bush, Carl Odom (all aged 21).  Captain unclear at this point in time.  Edit: Bold = selected

Prediction: Managed a surprise 10 points last season (tactics miracle), not expecting a repeat.

Results:
8th  Kent Carey  140 points  Manicomicos_Cycling_Team
Well, that went well.

Very impressive and unexpected good result in a NT mountain race. Very well done, AA !  8)
Franky well done too, for training Kent Carey.

Also the Italian NT manager did a great job ; Nicola Miorlin ( SPORTLIFE ) finished as 2nd.
He has 9 stars and is the nr100 in the climb-dreamteam (and the nr25 in pure climb, but other kind of climbers can be good in pure climb too).

In the ranking by countries Australia now a shared 6th place with the Netherlands, and just 120 points behind the nr3 Spain.
(and 90 points ahead of the nr12 Great Britain, also worth to mention because I read somewhere that AA likes to beat the English)

Next week a sprint race with finish in Montpellier, France.
After that a translocation of 431km to the south, and I'm sure AA is looking forward to that NT time trial in Tarragona. :)

Really surprised given that he's a hill-climber, and some CFF countries have a dozen pure climbers..., well all I can say is I'd like to know what other NT managers did..., but hey, better for us (and I'm sure Carey's great exp helped - note for many other Aussie cyclists in many teams).
Anyway, with us expecting a quiet week ahead, here's the 19 to 22 year old cyclists to note list.

Ha, good to see Oliver Segond as the best 20-year old in 4 categories. I'm sure he has not been trained optimally thusfar (he has not had any climbing-training thus far, only cobbling and now hilling), but hey: he'll only be competing on a serious level when he's 23-24 anyway.

Oliver Segond   Age : 20   Wage : 850
Stamina : 49   Sprint : 15   Climbing : 66
Flat : 26   Cobblestone : 68   Technique : 41
Downhill
: 59   Hills : 83   Aggressiveness : 73
Time Trial : 14   Teamwork : 7   Experience : 4
Price :   Days left :   Stages raced : 0

Will train his hilling to 93-94 then switch to downhill and then stamina, then I'll decide what to do with in: sell to let someone give him climbing training, or continue training him (on technique or flat). I'll try my best for him as he is the only Aussie in my team.

His training hasn't been good so far Zatarra (seems to be a common theme).  I hope your team training speciality is at least set as hills currently.

Race 3

Quote
Selections :

Derek Nelson  24   Yvo_Meppelink_ProCycling (leader - decided on him because he actually has race experience above 10)
Stu Woods  24   Wiggo_pupils
Tony Carter  24   Vitimper (should have been leader - give him race experience, or sell him)
Angus Friend  23   Marineros
Oliver Stamer  22   FaltososDeChigre
Brent Hunter  20   WinterIsComing

Three more to be selected.  Decided not to select the next group of 24 sprinters, who essentially haven't raced outside of NTs, and will select 19-20 year olds from any discipline.   I was going to select 19 year old Ryan Pierre, however after keeping watch on the cyclist showed me that it was going to be a waste.

Edit: Angel Morrison   Frenkie   19 (TT)
Colin Mount   Sacido   19 (climb)
Ryan Henderson   FrançaiseDesJeux   19 (climb)
each with top potentials to star in future years with good talent.

Prediction:  50/50 shot at points..., well 25%.

Results:
5th  Derek Nelson  180 points  Yvo_Meppelink_ProCycling
They say laughter is the best form of medicine, and I would have laughed if you predicted a top 5 before the race (Derek is 1.5 to 1.8 av below my Daniel Cerdan - who also somehow managed 13th despite only being a silver 9 sprinter not in leader's position).  Ok, I'm taking it back, maybe I don't want to know what other NT managers are doing.

Yes, boss. He's trained at hill for 100% now. I've always trained him 100%, but on cobbling too, so that you probably consider a waste.

Good luck tonight!

From an unexpected 5th place after attempting to find 9 cyclists deserving selection, to the seasonal "feel like the Spanish NT manager for one week" event; where we attempt to squeeze 16 cyclists deserving selection (not including younger cyclists) into 9 spots.
Making it harder, two of those outside the top nine on rough calculation have weather bonuses.

Click on the attachment, and see the tragic circumstances we find ourselves in.  this week's training is going to count for those below Pinkney.
