Australia is a small CFF country, we are hurting in several categories. ;)
True on cobble hills, Australia sucks in that.
But not true on hills, the best 23yo will be pretty good and has flat and sprint as extra, so also very usefull in "weird" NT hills races.
And at the moment Australia has the nrs 2 and 4 in the hills u23 Dream Team of CFF.
So, hills is very promising for future NT races, it will even be one of the few categories where Australia can score many points.

I missed the Age factor when reading the U24s
I am currently looking for motivation; my UK TT generation is peaking, and not much is coming from the youth ranks. UK NT community is not very active, and also missed 2 consecutive NT TT races (sigh  :( ). So I will start a rebuild next season; I don't mind switching  focus from TT, and I see AU NT is quite active. Do you see where this is going... ?  ;D

LE: Yes, I do have a "change country" card 8)

Already welcome Down Under, horace_vr !  8)
For sure TeaMetal will be a great asset to Australia, and even more importantly, you as person will be great asset too.
All Australian managers are already preparing the barbeque party for your arrival next season.  :)

All good 21yo's and the few best 20yo's are in the u23 list already, so I will post the u22 and u21 lists in a few days or so.
But already fun to post the u20 list, although there are not many Australian 19yo's yet.
And maybe already a little bit informative of what Australia needs, and perhaps a good motivation for CFF managers to scout in Australia. 8)

OMG, what a speech, what a team party :D
Too bad I am still under contract with my current country, for the next 80 races or so

I like him a lot, Telamon !
According to me he has great potential, and even in 2 ways, 100% TT or 100% climb, the last one is probably favorable.

RACE 2 : BOLA DEL MUNDO

33ºC

Segovia, Spain ( 68km northwest of Madrid ),
Finally, for the first time Australia has golden pure climbers. Both are 24yo and on a very low position in the golden climb ranking.
And they are just a tiny little bit better than Garza, who was the teamcaptain in the NT mountain races of all previous seasons.
So, again the expectations are not high in the mountains. But if the tactics are right, maybe a few points are possible.
It will be difficult because there are many rivals with an active weather icon, three of those are active in this NT race.

Unfortunately none of the 4 best Australian climbers have that extra bonus.
As extra helper a hillsclimber is selected, just because he has a double weather bonus what hopefully makes him good enough to help.
No free roles in this race, simply not good enough to score points. So the new Australian mountain-teamcaptain has enough support now.

Therefore 4 xp-cyclists are selected :
A 22yo pure climber, not in the u23 Dream Team, but he seems promising and might become a golden pure climber too.
A 23yo hillsclimber who might be the future Australian teamcaptain in NT hillsclimb races.
A 24yo climb-TT-specialist who is the best of all CFF deserves to be an international, he makes his debut.
A 21yo sprinter, the only 21yo of all CFF who is already in the u23 Dream Team.

Australia NT selection :

Colin Mount ( 24 ) Sacido
Ryan Henderson ( 24 ) FrançaiseDesJeux
Anthony Garza ( 29 ) SaulSalinasTeam
Scott Springsteen ( 29 ) Manicomicos_Cycling_Team
Nate Henderson** ( 29 ) TeamSerfin
Jason Furey ( 22 ) PDM_cycling_team
Martin Hunter* ( 23 ) Quickstepbronx
Oscar Smith ( 24 ) SPORTLIFE    ( debut )
Jasper Blair ( 21 ) Manicomicos_Cycling_Team

In advance ánd in hinside ; my "read" / tactical approach of this climb NT race was good.
However, the tactics did not go the way I planned and expected, many (sometimes weird) things went wrong, too many to mention.
But one important thing I can mention as example ;
despite the almost fastest start possible, the teamcaptain was not in the front group of s1.

What was dissapointing and already in s1 a tactical problem, often causes many other tactical problems,
and the back up tactics in case it went wrong, where not entirely succesfull either.
Although the teamcaptain had support in the first three sections, but in s2 only help of a 23yo and in s3 even only help of a 22yo.
Also unexpected that those two young xp cyclists/helpers did very well in this race.

And what was also allright, despite the tactical failure of being isolated in s4, that is the decent, probably even good result.
Because the teamcaptain had an amazing good final climb, and he was far behind in the s4 group of nrs 54-71.
Even without the important extra bonus he came in s5 one second closer to the winner of this stage.
What is very remarkable, because he used the same amount of energy in s5 as he did in s1, what caused the bad race from the start.

Anyway, Australia is happy to score some points in the mountains, even after a weird race :
16º  Colin Mount

Next week there is for the first time a NT hill sprint race, and probably also the first time a NT race is in Australia.
Unfortunately ; again no real good cyclists for this race, so again the expectations are not high.
But it will be a windy race, so maybe more is possible as expected if the tactics go well. And maybe the home-advantage helps. :)

"Great job" is doubtfull.
Although, my "read" of this race was good, tactics were also based on that ; a hard start and hard finish.
And even a harder start would mean a 5 EP start for Colin Mount,
and that in a s1 upmountain section with flat in it, and in a pure mountain race that finishes in a s5 brutal E"climb ;
then a full power start is asking for a bad result, in my opinion.

And true, both 24yo's golden pure climbers Colin and R.Henderson (almost exactly the same GV) are good assets to Australia.
And an improvement compared to Garza (silver on pure climb) who was the Australian mountain teamcaptain in all previous seasons.
But both were dissapointing in this NT race.
However, perhaps this was not a good testcase, because of maybe bad luck, but almost sure because of the weather influences (incl. wind).
For example the Australian hillsclimb helper with 2 active weather icons did much better than expected,
despite the 4 ( ! ) full GV points less for this race, and he was even in the front group of s1.

But what is a better indication than this NT race, that is the golden ranking :
nr 184 = Mount, and nr 195 = R.Henderson.
To me that is too low, although we are Down Under of course happy that we have finally golden pure climbers after 10 seasons. :)
I suspect the 22yo Furey will be the Australian future teamcaptain in pure mountain races.
He is not in the u23 DT, no top climber also, but I estimate he will be gold in pure climb and ranked higher than Mount and R.Henderson.
Anyway, the future in pure mountain races looks brighter than the past with these 3 young golden pure climbers.
But still it is better for Australia if there is some flat and/or hills in a mountain NT race.

About Jasper "The Bullit" Blair  :)) ;
I gave him a free role to avoid that he finished as last in the NT climb race.
It was very exciting in the first 4 sections, and in s4 he was in the last group of 15 cyclists on 2:45"
With a "famous tactical fox trick" Jasper saved a little bit of energy for the final climb to secure he did not finish as last.
I'm 100% sure he used 12 EP and not too many energy
And this is his NT race result ; last place and beat by the only three 19yo's in this race.

147    Artur Kristoffersen      22   4: 31"   0      skies
148    Lorenzo Weber      20   4: 43"   0      ValeronIdolo
149    Gyula Vereckei      20   4: 52"   0      los_leones_del_sur
150    Ken Hansen      19   5: 18"   0      Team_Elrosportu
151    Carlos Soriano      19   5: 48"   0      Oska
152    Nichlas P.Larsen      19   5: 50"   0      amaranteprocycling

Mount is just one spot behind the Belgian winner in the climbers ranking  ;)

Just joking, was a real battlefield these mountains.
