s2 : Australia NT
« on: May 10, 2019, 09:01:23 PM »

First NT season in CFF3 starts !  8)

Australia is also in this new game a small CFF nation, maybe even smaller as in CFF2.
And in these new circumstances I cannot estimate how good the foreign competition is, so there is no real season goal.
The only thing I know is that there are just 3* Australians in the u23 Dream Team ( *= that is a very low amount ) :
Stu Beal (3rd hills), Stu Woods (6th sprint) and Leroy Benett (7th TT).

But as always, the young Aussies are motivated and ready !  :)
Check the lists please ; remarks, comments and questions about a cyclist are always welcome.
Tomorrow morning selection and preview of NT race 1, a hills stage in France.

edit ; Something went wrong in just the hills list, somehow the numbers 2, 3 and 10 were not shown. A mystery to me why this happened.
This is the correct hills list :

It seems to me all other lists are correct, including the hills-flat list.
But because of the mystery-mistake in the hills list, I'm not 100% sure anymore. So, let me know if you think a cyclist is missing.
315 cyclists (including the wrong hills-list, the correct hills-list is above this text.)

I'm surprised that any of my TTers are up there given that I (as you now know) didn't train TT last season (so I could train an extra season of perfect TTers).  Other TTers should be afraid, very afraid.

Even better is that Richard & Isaac have high talent (haven't calculated, but will be 4-5).

That went not well, a dissapointing race because I expected more of Beal as 3rd hills specialist in the DT with an active wheater icon.
In hinside he probably had to start harder, but that would not give him the victory and he was going for that in a no guts no glory tactics.
And the other Aussies were clearly not good enough and helping the teamcaptain was limited or difficult and they used a lot of EP.
The same for the 2 free role riders, I think their tactics were fine but by far not good enough to score points
Anyway, a 5th place for Beal gives 180 points and a 7th place in the ranking by countries.

Next week hopefully a better race in the French Pyrenees, despite there are no Australian climbers in the DT.
The best 3 Australian climbers are already selected.

The new version of CFF is going to be hard on smaller CFF nations, because there isn't the draft to help minimise the cyclist depth differential from Spain, Italy, Portugal, & co.  We can only hope that players in some of these CFF nations will realise the benefits of sending their international scouts to smaller places such as Australia.

Yes, I agree with you 100%.
The special Australian draft system was a strong, notorious/famous weapon to compete with the big CFF nations.

By the way, this is the reason I was dissapointed in race 1. In CFF3 Australia will not have many chances to win a race.
This season it was the only change, for example.
But if the talent rating of Stu Beal is good, he always has a chance in future NT hills races.
Besides Stu Beal, at the moment I only know of my own Australian Fagan that he could win this race below if this will be a future NT race :

# Australia is a very small CFF nation, so your rider has more chance to be selected for the NT.
# This means more experience for your rider.
# You can see your rider in the weekly lists. That is informative and fun / proudly to see your rider and team are mentioned.
# (Besides me) Australia always has good NT managers so your rider will perform better in the NT races.
# Australia has the most amazing flag of all CFF nations, it looks great on your team page !  :)
# Last but not least ; Australian managers are always very helpfull if you have a question about your Australian cyclist.

So, dear foreign CFF managers, send your scout to Australia, please.  8)

Yes, this is sad indeed.
Also, the fact that there can be (2 out 7) races in a NT-season which is TT-race is not making it better. Then the smaller nations cant even make up for the difference with good tactics...

Also! I would like to mention, that all listed reasons to join Australia, also applies to Norway! But only by scouting in Norway, you can get true vikings on your team!  8)
