WCS 2024
« on: January 06, 2024, 03:31:28 AM »
A new season starts in the CFF League of the World Cycling Stats !  8)
Have fun and good luck everyone in 2024 !  :)

Jumbo-Visma dominated in 2023, including winning all 3 big tours.
In the picture the final top 3 GC of the Vuelta ; Vingegaard ( Tour de France winner ), Kuss ( Vuelta winner ) and Roglič ( Giro winner ).

To new participants who want to join 8) the cycling for fun subleague in WCS :

Quote
1. Click this link :  http://www.worldcyclingstats.com/en/games

2. Create an account ( it is free ).

3. Join the WCS subleague = cycling for fun
Click a tour or race that is open for participation,
then click leagues, now you see a list of all subleagues, search for cycling for fun and click it.
To join, you have to use a code/password :
by pm you can ask this password to one of the CFF participants who already joined.
You have to use the password just once, after that, in all other tours and races of this and next seasons you are automatically in.
Keep the password secret please, only mention it to a new participant who wants to join.

It is the WCS subleague cycling for fun, so it is for CFF managers of the normal CFF game.
But it is no problem if there are exceptions, for example a friend of you outside the normal CFF game who wants to join.
In this case, please inform one of the administrators ( = Kalarratas and Vos ). More participants = more fun.  :)
Also ex-CFF managers are very welcome to join the WCS cycling for fun league. Perhaps a motivation to start again in CFF as well.

4. You can change the language ; at the top of your WCS start page ( English, Dutch, Spanish or French ).

5. To play this game costs almost no time, just a few minutes to pick 15 cyclists and answer the extra questions.
You can also read a preview of the tour or race, a lot of previews are online. But this is not necessary to win in the CFF League.

It is up to you how often you want to join in the races and tours of 2024.
There are many CFF managers who join so now and then. Also some CFF managers join just the important races and tours.

6. Do not forget to activate the 15 picks and extra questions with the select button at the bottom of your screen.
After you picked your 15 cyclists and answered the extra questions ; nothing more to do, just relax and enjoy how your picks are doing.

This 2024 cycling season is including the Olympic Games in Paris.  8)
In the CFF League, the prestigious Olympic medals in Tokyo 2021 were won by ;
Combuijs
Animatoca
azerite

the first 3 tours of 2024 are already open to join ;  :)
3 days and 18½ hours left to join.
previous winner ; Vos ( 23 ).
5 days and 22 hours left to join.

Aaron Gate ( 33, NZL ), world champion on the track ( points race ) in Glasgow 2023, wins the very first cycling stage of 2024.

90% of the CFF participants picked Aaron Gate, and 60% picked him as final GC winner ( he won this tour once, in 2019 ).

CFF League stage 1 winner = Mlb  8)

There are a few changes in the Women's Tour Down Under.
TT world champion Chloé Dygert is out, what probably causes that many CFF participants have a red cross = X.
6½ hours left to join or check your picks.

Also in stage 4 a victory of GC leader Aaron Gate.

CFF League stage 4 winner = Mlb  8)
ophiuko is still the GC leader with 1 more stage to go.

Ludwig ( 28, DEN ) wins the uphill-sprint in stage 2.

The Danish all-rounder exploded from the field after a cagey race through the Adelaide Hills to take a commanding win on the penultimate stage of the three-day stage race. The win moved Uttrup Ludwig into the overall lead.

"Plan A was to sprint for Grace [Brown] and we actually had it all figured out but Grace didn’t feel so good, so had to change the plan but I’m just happy I could execute," Uttrup Ludwig said after the stage.

"It feels good. It’s just so good being in Australia where my boyfriend comes from and taking a win. It’s just awesome. I’m just excited for tomorrow. I’ve done Willunga Hill a couple of times in recon and I think it’s going to be exciting."

With the win on the stage, Uttrup Ludwig now holds the overall lead in the race with a two-second buffer over Bertizzolo ahead of the final stage on Sunday.

CFF League stage 2 winner = Mlb  8)
Mlb is the new GC leader with 1 more stage to go.

Nienke Vinke (Team dsm-firmenich Post NL) was a distant second
and Neve Bradbury (Canyon//SRAM) won the sprint with Amanda Spratt (Lidl-Trek) for third on the stage.

Gigante attacked from the bottom of the climb, initially drawing a select group with her before going solo.

After a thrilling final 10km with many attacks, Del Toro ( 20, MEX ) attacked in the final km and won, his first WorldTour-victory.
And he is the new GC leader due to boni-seconds. But the GC is still very close, for example the nrs 10 to 75 on just 0:11"

CFF League stage 2 winner = ophiuko  8)
Vos is the new GC leader.

Again a sprint victory of Welsford, his third stage win in this TDU.
The final two stages will be an exciting "GC showdown" ;
in stage 5 twice Willunga Hill ( 3km a 7% ) incl. summit finish, and in stage 6 three times Mount Lofty ( 1,8km a 8% ) incl. summit finish.

But without recent Australian champion Luke Plapp ( 7x picked ), who had a nasty crash in stage 3 and did not start in stage 4.
Also FDJ GC captain Rudy Molard ( 2x picked ) was involved in that same hard crash, and had to abandon.

CFF League stage 4 winner = Vos  :)
Vos is still the GC leader with 2 more stages to go.
