Title: Questions - Ask Anything

A place where you can ask the other managers your questions

What is the order of events?

Is it first transfermarkt followed by international scout or the other way around?

Will we have World Challenges in CFF3 ?

We need teams in 1st, 2nd and 3rd divisions to use their tactics, and now with variable calendar I had problem in tests.
Until 3rd season I can't test it , but difficult.

Will we have World Challenges in CFF3 ?
If I remember correctly, the original purpose of the World Challenges, was for a fun way in which teams in Div 2 & 3 could have races with those in different divisions.  Trouble is, with a 7 week schedule, it doesn't completely work.
W7 = 2
W6 = 4
W5 = 8
W4 = 16
W3 = 32
W2 = 64
W1 = 128

So we have 50 Div 1 teams, and the top 16 of Div 2 (68/4), which wasn't really the original purpose.  There are possible ways around this, if it's still to have the same goal is in CFF2 (which mightn't be the case).  You could have a mid-week race in Week 1, which would bring us to 256 teams.  The alternative is to have 3 teams for the races in W1, which brings us to 192 teams.  Of course, combining these (an extra race - plus 3 teams in first race) would bring us to 384 teams participating.

Aren't you confusing the CFF Cup with the World Challenges? CFF Cup will start next season just like it did in the beta (and indeed with 50 div 1 and 17 (68/4!) per division 2.

Fixed races, based on the 1-day races; there are 14 such races in the calendar every season.
Drawback - no Time Trial.
World challenges were a nice way of getting some special perks, like find hidden talent, extra youth pulls, and so on. Just my opinion ;)

Yes, but only with 14 races the system is poor.
I have a primary version tested but in beta not enough teams to try , I need all these tactics in 1a, 2nd and 3rd divisions

How do form, health and staff influence race performance ?
We already know that GV=sum(skill * skill_importance)

Form, health and staff add to the GV ? Like they are additional skills ?
Or are they coefficients for GV, something like:
Total_value = GV * form * health...
Title: Re: Questions - Ask Anything
Post by: oscacom on April 07, 2019, 10:07:12 PM
Form-Health- Staff - Training Camp active - Experience are bonus
Example GV ( skill + skill importance) + Health bonus + Form bonus + Staff +TC +Experience
In race you have to sum ( level effort  from pasive 0 to very agg 5 * skill in colour)
Example you put 2 effort in section colour blue ( you have to sum 2 * hills skill)
Other bonus is helper GV ( if you have helper in past section you have bonus in this section)
Helper has a - bonus in GV, free role has no bonus and leader has bonus if helper is with him in past section . Better GV of helper more bonus.

In this stage:
https://www.cyclingforfun.org/cff/etapas/tarragona.jpg

If I put effort to "Full (5)" in Section 5, which skills will be relevant ? only Flat, or also Sprint ?
I an not talking about Global Value; I am only asking about the effort bonus in Section 5.
Title: Re: Questions - Ask Anything

Green in 5th section bonus is according your sprint skill ( ONLY SPRINT).

No, only cobblestone. Sprint has a % value in General Value but not in effort bonus.

Question about division retainer teams.  Teams staying in Div3 were scrambled into new Div3 groups this season.  Is that an one off feature, and if not, will this also apply to Div2 teams?

Not, 2nd and 3rd division next season will be in same divisions, this 1st season was different due we have to complete 1st and 2nd divisions.

Green in 5th section bonus is according your sprint skill ( ONLY SPRINT).
Does this mean that in climbing sections, only CL matters, in hill sections, only HL matters; that technique, stamina etc counts for zero?  And in green flat sections with several 4 hill, in FL still the only attribute that matters for effort bonus?

What about the helper bonus ? How does it work ? The helper bonus is a % of the helper's Global Value, or the helper's Total Value ?
Title: Re: Questions - Ask Anything
Post by: oscacom on May 19, 2019, 03:06:02 PM
Every section Global Value /5 + Effort bonus ( only the main skill of the section) + Luck + Energy Bonus ( Total efforts without use) + Helper ( Global value of the cyclist at init of the stage)

Do the amounts of effort spend in a race affect the average race speed?
Title: Re: Questions - Ask Anything
Post by: oscacom on May 19, 2019, 10:11:35 PM
No, until I find a good formula to calculate according race result, average only calculates skills and % of skills influence in the stage ( without any bonus, climate, form, bike, staff, tactics...)
A lot of times a cyclist can get best average that the cyclist that have the record. Record is a number, as example 34334,343 with race tactics, all bonuses while average speed only skills.

Osca, do cyclists from inactive teams become 'free' automatically (like whenever their team manager is inactive for 2 months) or is this a manual setting (so that you have to put these cyclists in the free market)?

And at what time is this happening ? Exactly 7 weeks after last login (day-hour-minute-second), or during daily/weekly updates ?

Oska, is random the hour to pass this weekly procesos? Today at 8:00am a rider wasn't free and 1 hour ago he has signing for a new team  :'( There isn't an established time for the process?

It is with the weekly process that gives weekly money and pay wages.
I am thinking in change it and put in a daily process . Past years I did it manually, but I prefer do it in automatic mode.
Surely it will be since tomorrow in daily process , maybe at 0.00, or 7.00, or one new process.

No, CFF3 is supposed to be lighter than the old CFF(2), and the additional rankings have been scrapped

Not, make mountain and green shirt was a lot of work due I have to put every mountain , categorie, section, Tour, stage in database, and in green shirt modify all pics and put in database section and in both cases put more charge in engine.
I thought it didn't be as useful and it won't be on the game.

When a cyclist is close to change training range, how does it work? I'm trying to calculate potential in my roster, but I don't know if a young with 79.98 in a skill trains 0.32 (people between 60 and 80 raises 0.32 per training session) or 0.17, which is the amount for cyclists between 80 and 90.

This not really a question, but more a remark / observation / commentary :

I noticed that is not possible to see the last log in date of every team anymore.
This date can be handy in case of free cyclists that will come on the free cyclists transfermarket soon, but no problem that this is changed.
I assume there are good reasons for this change.
However, as NT manager I regret that I cannot see the last log in date anymore.
Because I look at that a lot when I make the NT selection.
Now I have to study some teams if they are active or not, because I rather select cyclists of active teams then of in-active teams.
Title: Re: Questions - Ask Anything
Post by: oscacom on June 14, 2019, 10:50:38 PM
I prefer it is not shown due now nobody knows when a cyclist is a free cyclist.
I think it was not good for the game, now you must search every day without know what team is inactive.
Title: Re: Questions - Ask Anything
Post by: Vos on June 15, 2019, 12:54:55 AM
Ok, I understand that. Most likely a wise desicion of you.
As NT manager it is a little bit more effort to select cyclists of active teams now. But meantime it is way less effort as NT manager compared to CFF2 because in CFF3 there are just 7 NT races. So, in terms of effort I m not complaining at all.
Just a remark, and I have to adapt to this change because I was looking at the last log in date a lot when I made the NT selections.
Thanks for your reply.  :)

Last Sunday my team was exit CFF Cup.
But the next day I did not get the money of the CFF Cup. ( also now after 6 days I did not received it yet )
I thought that in CFF2 you get the CFF Cup money the day after elimination.
Is this changed ?
For example, you get it at the end of the season in CFF3 ? Or maybe I remember it wrong and it was always at the end of the season ?

At first I was also confused, but it is easy to remember: You get money after you win - at least this is how I managed to remember it. There are no money for being in round 1. If you win round 1, you get money right away. And so on

Aha, ok, thanks for this reply, it explains why there is no money with the elimination because I might already received the money of reaching the Q-finales the week before. And now no money for reaching semifinales because my team was eliminated before the semifinales.
I think now this is the case. Thanks.  :)

AA, also thanks for your reply, but the chance I remember it wrong seems not high to me (but there is a chance).
And you are right about the awards etc. , you get them at the end of the season.
For example also the top4 award, you don't get that the day after elimination in the semifinales, but 2 weeks later at the end of the season.
If I remember correctly^^.

Or will the first talent from my international scout arrive on Tuesday and not be able to participate in the Tour Down Under?

Three NTs would be too much.  You could argue that most CFF nations would happily do two NT teams, which I'd argue should be u22 if that were to occur, but no way for three.

Of course, with over 450 teams under the Spain flag, over 200 for the French, just under 200 for Italy, compared to under 20 for Estonia, Latvia, Russia, Ukraine; under 30 for Australia, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, I'd also argue it would also be beneficial if it were possible for those in the three biggest CFF nations to transfer to the smaller ones at the end of each season if they wished.
(btw: I reaffirm my opinion before Cff3 began that at least one Bulkan's NT should have been replaced, Poland & the Czech Republic would probably have been more viable).

I agree

I would like one young team too - and I agree U22 would be best. However, I can also see it might be hard to get enough candidates for many countries. Perhaps other countries candidates who didn't get voted could get to lead one of the countries without candidates? These should be people wanting to lead even another country.

I find it very satisfying to have the young talents have something to compete for too - even if they'll much faster be able to compete in 1a and national team.

I believe Oska has already said that the challenges won't be returning due to resource use.

But I continue testing the system, not for resources, but new calendar variable and how it is store in database give me problems.
Wc could return if I find a good solution although at moment I didn't.
These days I have to test because we use tactics of last season stored.
Other problem now could be low level in cyclists, for this I can't test well due if you pass rounds you fight with silver and gold cyclist and until now it is not possible.

Is there anyone here who has a good training sheet? I want to know how good a rider that currently is 19 year old will be at the age of 24. Of course I don't know the talent level yet, but I want to make calculations with different talent levels now (for example talent level 0, 3 and 5).

When one of your Favourites go on sale, you get a notification; click on the notification, and you are shown a page with all your Favourites.
But I cannot find a direct link to that list (i.e. - without the notification). Am I missing the obvious...?

How big is the weather bonus? And multiple weather bonusses in a race, does that imply two single bonusses (+) or a multiplication of the bonus (x)?

How big the weather bonus is, well there's never been an answer to that, and its something you'll just have to estimate.  And it'll be 2 individual bonuses, not a multiplication.

Are the 5 sections equal in terms of length ? For example today, we had the same in all 5 - Flat Cobblestone. The chances of groups splitting are the same in each section ? And the distances between the groups are the same in all 5 sections (of course, assuming everyone uses same tactics:))

I have a lot of problem in past with NT managers because every season a lot of NT don't have any candidate and in these case you have to choose a manager. Some of them don't want and they send you a message, sometimes after 1st race and you have to contact with another and sometimes with another... With a lot of NT more managers left NT during season too. If we have a masive game with a lot of manager that want to be NT in every country we don't have all these problems.
At moment no new NT , game processes are complex and change u21 and u23 is a long work with possible lot of bugs. If in future I see good activity to have active managers in all countries my option will be 1st open u23 NT . U21 would be later , but both options at moment aren't in my mind, sorry.

Every round more difficult. I put hidden max and min % that can change a bit by luck.
Same race can be a bit harder or softer , you can repeat and try it.

I presume you mean in achievements (like the bronze-silver-gold).  If that's the case, then trained stats in line with what the game believes you need to do well in tours (I'd presume lots of climb, with amble other stats).

(Btw: I only speak English, so if you need another language, there's heaps of other here who speak three, four, or even five languages [smartypants]).

Ok, curiousity has gotten the better of me.  Last season, Richard Levin won both the Australian jersey, and the TT WC jersey.  As the TT WC is of higher ranking, it's that jersey which shows on all of the signup lists etc.

Question:  If Levin were to win both the TT WC, and World Champion jerseys this year, which jersey would show on signups etc next season?

You're hoping I do that because in the "Guess Who Will Win In Season 7", you predicted:
Quote: "Doha TT WC - Richard Levin"

Along with all bar two people (one being me).  Of course with my woeful prediction record so far, I might as well, but I'm yet to make up my mind; so I'm still curious as to the answer.

I'm wondering what's the criteria for winning this achievement (https://www.cyclingforfun.org/cff/iconoscff/croner1.jpg), because my Richard Levin (7 wins, 5 records) is yet to get it, whilst Leroy Benett (6 wins, 3 records - had achievement at 5 wins) & Benny Andresen (6 wins, 2 records) do have it.
Title: Re: Questions - Ask Anything
Post by: Vos on February 15, 2020, 08:08:16 AM
CFF records do not matter in this milestone. It is just about 1A victories.

The only explanation I can give, and to answer your question (although this is not science but just a strong suspicion of mine) :
CFF makes a distinction between climb TT and flat TT.
You get this milestone after 5 climb TT wins or 7 flat TT wins. (maybe logical, because there are many more flat TT races in an average season)

(https://www.cyclingforfun.org/cff/iconoscff/croner1.jpg) Leroy Benett ( SPORTLIFE ) = Buen Contrarrelojista, solo 2  8)
CC_Porco_Jones ( con Benny Andresen ) fue el primero y ya lo ganó el 13 de agosto.
Información : Obtendrás esta Distencione después de 5 victorias.

Probably you are wondering about Andresen now.
He is riding in the 2nd division so you cannot see his previous 1A victories (with the exception of the WC TT).
So your information is based on what he wrote in his notes. It seems to me he forgot to mention one victory in his notes, and just as Levin, Andresen got this milestone after 7 victories in 1A.

edit ; Another possibility is that there is a bug.
But if it is not a bug, this seems to me a logical explanation based on my suspicion about this subject.

Benny Andresen got six Div1 victories, including 1 TT WC, you can't see it in the cyclist's history, but can see the list in the team's history page.

Race pictures are screwed up.  For instance, race history for Benny Andresen 1º Stage Etapa 1 / Volta Catalunya temporada4 gives me:

via two different search methods.
Title: Re: Questions - Ask Anything
Post by: Vos on February 15, 2020, 08:28:14 AM
Hmmmmm, you are right, 12 victories in total and 6 of them are won by Andresen.

I looked at Levin too ;
And I rule out the possibility that Levin gets this milestone with a huge delay and got it also after 6 victories.

Weird, I cannot explain this, AA.

edit ; maybe a bug ?

edit 2 ; that CFF makes a distinction between climb TT and flat TT, that could be right.
But it is a mystery to me why Levin gets it after 7 wins and Andresen after 6 wins.

Now we know and finally a correct answer = (https://www.cyclingforfun.org/cff/imagenes/camiclasicas.jpg)
Because Levin won both jerseys in season 7, and in the upcoming TDU it shows the NT world champion jersey and not the WC TT jersey.

Finances - end of season taxes: in-game page says:

"If you have less than 1 million euros in your account, you don´t have to pay this tax.
Between 1 million and 10 millions euros in your account, you pay a tax of 7%;
If you have between 10 millions to 25 millions euros, you pay 10%;
from 25 millions to 50 millions - the tax is 15%.
If anyone goes there in the future: from 50 millions to 100 millions - tax is 20%;
if you have more than 100 milions euros in the bank - you will pay a tax of 25%"

Is this still true... ? Or is it more like:
"If you have between 1M and 10M, you pay 7% of your first million and 10% of the ammount between 1M and 10M...?

Say I have 5M - I would pay 0 (0% of 1M) + 400K (10% of $M which are "beyond" 1M) = 400K...?
Say I have 11M- I would pay 0 + 900K (10% of 1 to 10M) + 150K(15% of anything beyond 10M) = 1050K...?

Has anyone kept a ledger on these...?  ;)
Title: Re: Questions - Ask Anything

A year ago I read somewhere in the beta version forum that Oska adjusted the taxes in CFF3.
How it is now calculated, I don't know. I can remember vaguely that the tax percentages are less in CFF3 compared to CFF2.
And if that is the case, the text on the CFF page is not correct, because that is the same text of CFF2.

I'm not sure about my answer. Hopefully someone will react who is more sure, or is sure about another answer.
edit ; I can remember it wrong. So, maybe someone can find the (beta)forum text about this subject.

Probably the tax percentages are adjusted in CFF3, but maybe that is not true and was just a rumor, I don't know.
What I do know ;
The tax percentages count on the total bank amount.
For example if you had 52M in CFF2, you paid 10,4M taxes ( 20% of 52M ).
Title: Re: Questions - Ask Anything
Post by: Vos on March 01, 2020, 02:38:36 PM
Perhaps also good to know :
First you pay taxes, after that your total points-money is paid ánd the standard sponsor money of your division is paid.
The taxes just count on the total bank amount that you had on the last day of previous season.

edit ; and this funfact is maybe also good to know ; the current rankings (everyone zero points) are based on the bank amounts.
So the richest team of a division is on number 1 and the most poor team of a division on the last place.
My team is on place 48, grrrrrrr !  :))
This means that there are just 2 teams who have even less money on the bank than I have.^^

For the first time since CFF3 began, it's not me with no money Vos.

Tax on money in the bank for CFF3 is supposedly properly proportional in the way governments do it, eg
If you have $12m:
On first mill = $0
$1mill to $10mill = 7% on $9mill = $630k
$10mill to $12mill = 10% on $2mill = $200k
= $0 + $630k = $200k = $830k in total

MSR has 2 hills extra in the final section, including the Poggio with the technical fast descent that can be decisive in real cycling.
Maybe that is the reason why there is more % in downhill in MSR compared to stage 5 TDU.
Of course, I'm guessing too and I could be wrong.

That indeed was the problem. I activated it Yesterday, so didn't get the option. Today however the card was activated, so it suggested that I could pick something. I had to deactivate and then again activate the card to pick my new country. Thanks!

As I remember it from CFF2, it used to be that if the cyclist had a TC bonus active at time of transfer, the bonus cancelled & the cyclist could be sent for another one (even if 14 races had been used); however if the TC bonus had expired then you couldn't.
Statements (by Vos) in the Dutch forum suggests that this may have changed (and that a sale also completely resets even an expired TC bonus).  I'm wondering whether there's any other confirmations whether it's changed or not.

Nothing changed ; my statement applies for CFF2 and CFF3. And I am sure my statement is true.

What is the meaning of the Hall of Fame (the supporter feature where you see all (some?) of the Gold riders in each speciality). I thought you could see all golds in there, but I don't think that is true
https://www.cyclingforfun.org/cff/medallitass.php?valor=crono , for example

Maybe to everyone a different meaning ; to me it is interesting and fun to compare golden top cyclists.
To a NT manager it is handy extra information/confirmation ( on top of your own GV evaluator ) in who to select, ánd who to select as teamcaptain.
You should see all golden cyclists in the golden rankings.
The only exception can be a cyclist who just got a golden icon, sometimes a little delay on the update of the hall of fame.
Your link is not an example, it is the link to the golden TT rankings.
Give a name, and I can check if you are right and that golden cyclist is not in the golden ranking. But for now ; I assume I'm right.  ;)

thanks a lot for the explanations and insights; I think you are correct, with a slight delay in updates (in or out that list), things should be fine; I was merely looking for my aging TT-ers, but they lost their gold medals, and now they are also out of the list.

I don't think there is any delay. Every cyclist with a gold medal is shown in the Hall of Fame of its speciality, even if he got it recently. This ranking is directly linked to the now gone spiderweb data, which showed the values for each different medal (and the ranking is sorted by this values). When they reached 9000 in that medal, it turned into gold.

Me again: Which cyclists are included in the dream team ? Top 10 of each ? https://www.cyclingforfun.org/cff/dreamteam.php

Yes, the dream team is basically the top10 of each terrain in the hall of fame

I will take a break from Cycling For Fun now my generation is too old to compete. The game goes to fast for me with 2 races per day, but maybe I will come back in the (near) future. How often do I have to login to keep my team? Is this at least once per season or something like that?

Hereby also thanks again for everyone who helped me when I started with this game, especially Vos and Flandria.

If I remember correctly, it is 7 weeks
But you do know that you can sign up for races fo 2 weeks in advance, right ? So you can promote some riders at the beginning of the season and just sign them up and change training every now and then...? Like once per week would be more than enough to grow a team (or just sell them in 6 months from now)

Sad to see people considering leaving...

Sorry to read that you are taking a break from CFF, Paul.
Of course, all respect to your decision, and hopefully you return in the game, somewhere in the future.
And thanks for playing, it was fun to see how you were getting amazing results with Pascal Cruijff.
If you fire Cruijff, he will be automatically put in the hall of fame of your team. He for sure deserves it. 8)

I think Horace is right about the once per 7 weeks ( = once per season ) logging in to keep your team.
My advice is to logg in once per month, just to be more safe that your team does not dissapear.

If you come back, contact me, I will give you a "masterclass" how to play this game with just logging in 2 or 3 times per week,
and getting the same amazing results as logging in every day. It is possible to play this game with low effort.
For example, you can send cyclists on training camp far more further ahead as most CFF managers think,
by using the "training-camp button" on the right of the race pictures of your "sign-up-for-upcoming-races page".
Only in the first 2 weeks of a new season, it is advisable/smart to log in once every day, due to recruiting and scouting.

And you do not need a "masterclass" about setting up a youth team, because you were really good at that, even very impressive.
Training a youth team is even much less effort as racing ; logging in only once per week, or even just once per 2 weeks is needed.
I hope you come back somewhere in the future, if so ánd if not ; I wish you all the best, Paul. :)

I would like to keep my best riders in the hall of fame. What are the conditions for this?

Si no me equivoco...haber sido convocado por la selección o haber ganado alguna etapa...da igual primera que segunda que tercera..aunque tampoco lo sé fijo fijo.

I find it strange that scouted riders have their wages either between 500 and 599, or 800+; I haven't pulled anyone with wages between 600 and 799. I pulled climbers, TT, cobbless and hills in my manager career. Just curious why this is happening  ;)

If I'm not mistaken...having been called up by the national team or having won a stage...it doesn't matter first or second or third...although I don't know for sure either
Yes, a cyclist will be in the hall of fame if has at least one NT selection.
If he does not have one NT race ; Vlominck is right about a victory, that is also automatically in the hall of fame.
But I do not know if other excellent results are also good enough as a condition to be in the hall of fame.

Only cyclists with a 800+ salary are protected by the FBI.
The cyclists with lower salaries have to pay a certain percentage of their salary to the mafia.
This extortion amount has already been deducted from the salary by the CFF software.
This is my theory why salaries between 600 and 799 do not excist. But maybe I'm wrong and there is another reason. ;)  :))

According to my observations, the wages depend on the sum of all the skills (including decimals, if you add the skills is always 3-4 points less than the wage). Maximum is 460. Between 400 and 460, wages are 800-860 (add 400). Between 300 and 400, wages are 500-600 (add 200). Lower than 300, wages are from 400 downwards (add 100).

I just realized I am not 100% sure when was the last training of the previous season, and when was the first one of the new season...? When do these happen ?  :-[

There are 91 races and 91 trainings. Trainings always go before races. The last training of the season was just before the last race (Road WC). The first training of the season was just before TDU Stage 1.

Can anyone explain in English what is the next "Extra" button in the Tactics screen ? :)
I took one season off, and then this...  ;D

LE: Of course, I am talking about the World Challenges

I don't see a "extra" button there. Next to the extra column i see a copy and paste (tactics) button. Do you mean those two?

In English it is called "Extra"; and yes, I tested and it indeed copy-pastes the tactics; but the name (Extra) is a poor choice for the English version
I suppose you are using a different language version :)

In the other screens, it's listed as "Efforts."  It should be easy enough for Oska to change the word to this.
