First NT season in CFF3 starts ! 8)
Australia is also in this new game a small CFF nation, maybe even smaller as in CFF2.
And in these new circumstances I cannot estimate how good the foreign competition is, so there is no real season goal.
The only thing I know is that there are just 3* Australians in the u23 Dream Team ( *= that is a very low amount ) :
Stu Beal (3rd hills), Stu Woods (6th sprint) and Leroy Benett (7th TT).
But as always, the young Aussies are motivated and ready ! :)
Check the lists please ; remarks, comments and questions about a cyclist are always welcome.
Tomorrow morning selection and preview of NT race 1, a hills stage in France.
edit ; Something went wrong in just the hills list, somehow the numbers 2, 3 and 10 were not shown. A mystery to me why this happened.
This is the correct hills list :
It seems to me all other lists are correct, including the hills-flat list.
But because of the mystery-mistake in the hills list, I'm not 100% sure anymore. So, let me know if you think a cyclist is missing.
315 cyclists (including the wrong hills-list, the correct hills-list is above this text.)

I'm surprised that any of my TTers are up there given that I (as you now know) didn't train TT last season (so I could train an extra season of perfect TTers). Other TTers should be afraid, very afraid.

Sallanches (FRA), near the Swiss and Italian border,
Tomorrow the NT race with the highest expectations of all 7 NT races.
Because the number 3 (hills) of the CFF Dream Team, Stu Beal, will be the teamcaptain.
All selected cyclists are hills-specialists, and almost everyone will help Stu Beal.
Australia NT selection ( in blue the xp ) :
Stu Beal* (20) $Tourmalet 3
Patrick Fredickson (20) $Tourmalet 6
John Jones (20) Oska 1
Tyler Walker (20) NervionBike 4
Isaac Montgomery (20) WinterIsComing 5
Steve Owens (20) Oska 8
Ali Mount (20) NervionBike 5
Joe Ryan (20) Manicomicos_Cycling_Team 11
Scott Stallone (20) $Tourmalet 2

Even better is that Richard & Isaac have high talent (haven't calculated, but will be 4-5).

Something went wrong with the lists, see the edit post of the lists.
-
That went not well, a dissapointing race because I expected more of Beal as 3rd hills specialist in the DT with an active wheater icon.
In hinside he probably had to start harder, but that would not give him the victory and he was going for that in a no guts no glory tactics.
And the other Aussies were clearly not good enough and helping the teamcaptain was limited or difficult and they used a lot of EP.
The same for the 2 free role riders, I think their tactics were fine but by far not good enough to score points
Anyway, a 5th place for Beal gives 180 points and a 7th place in the ranking by countries.
Next week hopefully a better race in the French Pyrenees, despite there are no Australian climbers in the DT.
The best 3 Australian climbers are already selected.
-
Well, it could be worst! dont worry Vos! g0 g0 g0 Australia!
-
Thanks Franky, and indeed, go go go Australia ! :)

The new version of CFF is going to be hard on smaller CFF nations, because there isn't the draft to help minimise the cyclist depth differential from Spain, Italy, Portugal, & co. We can only hope that players in some of these CFF nations will realise the benefits of sending their international scouts to smaller places such as Australia.
-
Yes, I agree with you 100%.
The special Australian draft system was a strong, notorious/famous weapon to compete with the big CFF nations.
By the way, this is the reason I was dissapointed in race 1. In CFF3 Australia will not have many chances to win a race.
This season it was the only change, for example.
But if the talent rating of Stu Beal is good, he always has a chance in future NT hills races.
Besides Stu Beal, at the moment I only know of my own Australian Fagan that he could win this race below if this will be a future NT race :

# Australia is a very small CFF nation, so your rider has more chance to be selected for the NT.
# This means more experience for your rider.
# You can see your rider in the weekly lists. That is informative and fun / proudly to see your rider and team are mentioned.
# (Besides me) Australia always has good NT managers so your rider will perform better in the NT races.
# Australia has the most amazing flag of all CFF nations, it looks great on your team page ! :)
# Last but not least ; Australian managers are always very helpfull if you have a question about your Australian cyclist.
So, dear foreign CFF managers, send your scout to Australia, please. 8)

Yes, this is sad indeed.
Also, the fact that there can be (2 out 7) races in a NT-season which is TT-race is not making it better. Then the smaller nations cant even make up for the difference with good tactics...
Also! I would like to mention, that all listed reasons to join Australia, also applies to Norway! But only by scouting in Norway, you can get true vikings on your team! 8)

Lézat-sur-Lèze, France,
No high expectations because the competition will be very fierce.
Hopefully the young Aussies will do well and score some points on Pla d'Adet at 1.669 meters altitude.

Good luck! Australia is welcome to score some points behind the norwegians 8)
-
Far behind. :(
And again congrats, Atalm93 ! 8)
Teamcaptain Steele finisht just as 19th.
And the other Australians on places 76, 102, 106, 117, 138, 142, 143 and 147.
I wish I could say these bad results were because of bad tactics. But that was not the case, unfortunately the Aussies are not good enough.
I gambled to save energie in s1. In hinside that was perfect, a full peleton in s1. And 6 (or5) Aussies rode full energy on the mountain in s2.
Just 2 of them could follow the peleton of 41 riders. And maybe this is "positive" ; with a little bit more luck the teamcaptain and his best helper could follow also because they were 1st and 4th of the 2nd big group. So in future mountainraces he might be a few places better with a little bit more luck. And of course an even bigger influence for future races is the training and the talent rating.
Anyway, a bit dissapointing to see these results. Hopefully next week better results in the NT sprint race, but there is a big chance Australia is even worst in sprint than in climbing.
Just 20 points in this race, that means Australia is now 11th together with Estonia.
I don't expect many points in the next NT race, so hopefully the last 4 races are more suited to score points.
Only Norway and Germany are far ahead. The nr3 France has just 230 points more as Australia ; a lot of countries are close together.
-
Good to see my guys between the best Climb-hillers and cobblers...hehe. BTW, for sprint-hills, which % are you using, in mines, Nate Farrell is better than Alpin...
About yesterday race...well, keep going, don't worry too much about this races, this kind of races are not our best terrains... We don't have too many teams in Australia training climbers...
g0 Aussies!!
-
Those are the percentages of the Australian NT evaluator. I will send the top-secret hills-sprint percentages to you by pm.
I adjust it in most races, including all hills sprint NT races because there are different kinds of such races.
And you're right, no worries in Australia. There is more to see in Australia as just the bad NT results of the young Aussies.
This is one of the many examples : :-* :)) 8)
Perhaps I should hire her as NT-crisis-manager, then for sure the young Aussies will be extra motivated.
But maybe that is not necessary, because in Australia we have a good punishment if they not perform :
no top10 at the end of this season means I will send them to Europe where they have to sing on a rotating stick. ;D

Think Ive got a very nice cobhillsprinter this morning. Salary of 852 with 7 on climbing and 2 on Time Trial:
Arnold Davidson Age : 19 Wage : 852
Stamina : 42 Sprint : 67 Climbing : 7
Flat : 51 Cobblestone : 54 Technique : 53
Downhill : 32 Hills : 64 Aggressiveness : 57
Time Trial : 2 Teamwork : 18 Experience : 0
-
My knowledge about such a rider is limited and not much to compare with, so for what it is worth ;
I think you're right, and perhaps he is even more than just very nice because of his amazing sprint as extra.
There could be very suited future NT races for him, he is in my opion for sure an asset to Australia. 8)
GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT :
At the moment there are 45x 19yo's, so finally enough to make special u20 lists this weekend.
If you want your 19yo cyclist on these lists ; send your scout to Australia. :)
-
11x 20yo cyclists (with < 10 sprint) are not on the lists. Too much effort to search who they are. My apologies.
There are 305 x 20yo cyclists, so these lists are of 294 x 20yo. Next week hopefully complete lists.
And of course I added all 19yo's also, but none of them made it into the top15. But I will make u20 lists in a few minutes.

RACE 3 : SPRINT
(https://www.cyclingforfun.org/cff/etapas/reveltour.jpg) (https://i.imgur.com/Uwqo44u.jpg?1)
5ºC (https://www.cyclingforfun.org/cff/imagenes/viento1.jpg)(https://www.cyclingforfun.org/cff/imagenes/nieve.jpg)
Pau, the south of France,
Today a sprint race with finish in Revel. That is not far from last week's NT race 2.
Back in 2016 the Tour de France finished also in Revel, and Australian Matthews won the sprint of the break away group (see picture).
There is one Australian in the sprint dream team (Stu Woods, as 6th) but he is a hill-sprinter and not the best flat-sprinter.
The best Australian flat-sprinter is David Dixon, so he will be the team captain.
With zero races and zero experience I have nothing to compare with, so I don't know what to expect of him. He seems to me not a sprinter who can achieve a top result, but hopefully he will do well and scores some points.
Six sprinters are selected. Also 3 xp cyclists are selected, that is the first time this season.
The "teamcaptain" of next week is selected, TT-specialist Freddy Butcher.
Possibly the best Australian, flathills-and hills-specialist Stu Beal, gets also an xp selection.
As a reward that he races a lot and that he achieved 2 CFF records this season in 1A.
And for the first time one of the good and promising 19yo's is selected ; flatcobble-specialist Angus Friend who rides a lot in his team.
Next week another already experienced 19yo will get an xp-selection for sure. That is TT-specialist Christian Pinkney (Aurora_Australis).
Australia NT selection ( in blue the xp ) :
David Dixon (20) LosTxinosKudeiros 0
Stu Woods (20) kingmiller 9
Derek Nelson* (20) Yvo_Meppelink_ProCycling 4
Bobby Jordan* (20) LosTxinosKudeiros 0

- - - - - - - - - -
Stu Beal* (20) $Tourmalet 9
Freddy Butcher* (20) Antequera 8
Angus Friend (19) Marineros 4
-
Dixon finished as 7th, and Australia also 7th in the day ranking.
Still 11th in the ranking by countries, this time together with Spain.
Next week a flat time trial on the other side of the Pyrenees in and around Banyoles.

Australia has a number of good 19 yo's, but also missing riders in a few disciplines for example hills and sprint.
Sorry about this, but Will Crickton has fired, was not very very good and I need some spaces...the good thing is that now I have this 2 guys:
Fraser Slipper Age : 19 Wage : 822
Stamina : 58 Sprint : 1 Climbing : 69

Time Trial : 24 Teamwork : 74 Experience : 0

Dixon finished as 7th, and Australia also 7th in the day ranking.
Still 11th in the ranking by countries, this time together with Spain.
I can never understand why Spain doesn't win everything. It's like there's a special handicap on them or something.
I don't think we have any chance at points in the TT (my TTers weren't training TT until this season, as you know). Will message you.
Sorry about this, but Will Crickton has fired, was not very very good and I need some spaces...the good thing is that now I have this 2 guys:
That's what you do, sack the junk, make room for better.

I don't think we have any chance at points in the TT
I hope you are not right, but it is possible. However, I think that Butcher might be good enough to score points. But this thought is based on nothing because I cannot estimate how good the foreign competition is.
The number 2 of Australia, your TT-specialist Levin, is probably not good enough (yet) to score points because of his current TT skill.
I just looked into what Australia can expect of NT race 9, the hills-TT.
Hoping that the Australian TT-specialists are better there. But I don't think that is the case.
I'm even more optimistic about the flat TT than the hills TT.
Hank Kewell (Frenkie) and Owen Acree (Aurora) have the same hills-TT GV and both are way better as the other Aussies.
You can see Acree, so now you know why I think there will be no points in NT race 9.
So, let's hope there will be some points in the flat TT.
Top 10 in the ranking by countries will be very difficult to achieve this season. Positive is that it can only go better in the future.
However, Australia is 14th in the ranking ; number of cyclists per nation.
And has just the nr8 hills, the nr6 (hills)sprint and one mountain time trialist in the dream team. That is far too little at the moment.
But that can change because of good training and talent rating, and it can change in about 4 seasons and every season after that, because of new generations.
-
Butcher won't. Levin will most likely be number 1 TTer for Australia before the week is out. The top international 20yo TTers will be around 4.5AV higher (at least 50ST, 65FL, 65TQ, 90+TT) than both of them at this point in time. Next season Levin & Trump will possibly manage top 20s, then top 10s the season after.
-
and today...other 2 "trainable" guys...
Paddy Teinert Age : 19 Wage : 840
Stamina : 21 Sprint : 9 Climbing : 63
Flat : 65 Cobblestone : 17 Technique : 53
Downhill : 31 Hills : 60 Aggressiveness : 72
Time Trial : 16 Teamwork : 27 Experience : 0
Jasper Ablett Age : 19 Wage : 832
Stamina : 54 Sprint : 9 Climbing : 67
Flat : 25 Cobblestone : 41 Technique : 42
Downhill : 55 Hills : 35 Aggressiveness : 3
Time Trial : 26 Teamwork : 70 Experience : 0
My plan is to start training climbing after Joe get 90 hills
Joe Ryan Age : 20 Wage : 819
Stamina : 56 Sprint : 26 Climbing : 71
Flat : 50 Cobblestone : 20 Technique : 14
Downhill : 60 Hills : 86 Aggressiveness : 74
Time Trial : 6 Teamwork : 6 Experience : 15
The only "problem" is that other guys that are good, would start to train at 70%, but are not good enough to focus my plan on them.
P.S: Oh, I reached the max of riders in the team, so Paddy has been fired

Banyoles, Spain,
Today a time trial in Catalunya. No high expectations of the 7 selected TT-specialists. Hopefully they will be better in the future.
Two real xp cyclists are selected ;
20yo Carey because on Friday he was sold for many millions, and 19yo Friend because he is an amazing top(cobble)talent.
Australia NT selection (in blue the xp) :
Freddy Butcher (20) Antequera 10
Richard Levin (20) Aurora_Australis 11
Clyde Gill (20) Frenkie 6
Hank Kewell (20) Frenkie 8
Isaac Trump (20) Aurora_Australis 13
Christian Pinkney (19) Aurora_Australis 6
Paul Clickett (19) Aurora_Australis 0
Angus Friend (19) Marineros 5
Kent Carey (20) Astanadena 16

WOW, very suprising and excellent results 8) 8) 8) :
Trump 4th, Levin 5th and Butcher 9th.
I guess stamina (and flat ?) counted a lot in this TT race, and the TT-skill not so much as usual.
Another possibility is that Trump and Levin had a lot of luck.
Happy with these results and 510 (!) points in this race. :)
That gives a total of 860 points and Australia now even 3rd in the ranking by countries, just 95 points below the number 1 Spain.
And before this time trial, Australia and Spain were both 11th.
3 more NT races to go. Next week a cobblehills NT race in Belgium and the Netherlands.
-
I'm astounded that my guys got points, with Trump currently having 74TT & Levin 80TT. They shouldn't have been that competitive. All I can say, is all of the other teams training TTers, your guys are going to take regular beatings in several seasons time.

The 19yo Australians of SPORTLIFE are also for sale.
Climbers with great flat and perhaps good potential, despite they came into the game late, therefore talent rating is unknown.
Just Beal was recruited a few days ago, but too lazy to find out what he has. I wish I recruited so well at the start of the season.
Beal came into the game with 1 star and he has a wind icon. Winger has as extra a good cobbleskill and a high salary.
Who will give Beal, Winger, Lust and Finn a chance in this game ? :)
They are on the transfermarket for just 1,-

I suspect that Trump & Levin are now the top 2 TTers, that Mitchum is now on the list, and 19 year old Pinkney is possibly just outside it.

I suspect that Trump & Levin are now the top 2 TTers, that Mitchum is now on the list, and 19 year old Pinkney is possibly just outside it.
Yes, your suspicion is correct.
The best 19yo Australian time trialist Pinkney is on the 23rd place with 69,40
The Australian top 9 of 19yo TT specialists are all of your team :
23rd Pinkney 69,40
32nd Clickett 66,28
34th Power 64,65
36th Bell 63,97
37th Malone 63,72
39th Coburn 63,35
40th Wade 62,76
41st Sheenan 62,42
44th Nixon 61,17
There are two 19yo's in the u21 lists ; Friend (cobble) and Byers (cobble-hills), both of Marineros. They must be really good.
Of course Pinkney is very good also. He finished as 2nd best 19yo in the NT TT race of last Sunday, just one 19yo Hungarian was better.
Lots of changes in the u21 lists because of the training speed, the talent rating and how good the manager is training his Aussie(s).
Less remarkable is that Beal lost his nr1 hills position, because I saw earlier this week that he dissapeared out of the u21 dream team.
Now Australia has just 2 cyclists in the u23 dream team ; a hill-sprinter (7th) and a climb-TT-specialist (5th).
-
McClure is moving down in the cobble lists. His talent rating is good, so must be the fact that I was training his skill 90+. Seems the others stop at 90 maybe? I switched to 70% 40+ training on stamina so I assume he will rise again, also given the fact that in a few days he will get 100% 40/60+ training on flat. He will return in the top5 for sure!

For Climb-Hills are you using same % for climbing than hills? more climbing or more hills? because in the calendar we have very different kind of stages, like Lombardia/San Sebastian/Güeñes(Itzulia) or like the one in the Giro or Vuelta next season... in fact, is hard to find a Climbing stage with a bit of hills now...
Just to know if Joe is far away from his objective (be one of the greateast in Lombardia/SanSebastian/Eschborn)

Yes, you are right, just 2 above McClure have also a high cobble skill (93). 5 above him have not even reached the 90 yet.
The 94 of McClure is more than enough because of the u24 bonus, as you know.
According to me when I compare ; the main reason McClure is temporarily low, that is because of his stamina and flat.
Of course technique and sprint are important also.
Sprint is very different for each one. And somehow all Aussies have about the same low technique as McClure.
And no worries, I always look at the potential of a cyclist also, not just the GV. A high mainskill means less training on that and more potential because he can train on other important skills.
Also keep in mind that is just a snapshot of the moment. McClure is less than 1 GV point behind the number 2, and I cannot see what is behind the comma of a cyclist. This ranking could be very different after just a few days, it is very close together.
So a few trainings on 70% stamina shows compared to the others, and I agree with you that McClure will raise fast when he trains 100% flat (that counts almost twice as much as stamina or sprint or technique).
Good luck in training McClure, despite his temporarily 10th place we are very happy with him Down Under. :)

The climb hills percentages here are not really suited for Lombardia and San Sebastian.
Because stamina counts a little bit more, but mainly flat and hills counts more in those classic races as in these GV percentages.
In Eschborn-Frankfurt flat is even way more important, and also sprint counts there. This classic race is different compared to the other 2.
The climb hills percentages of the NT evaluator are more for stage 7 Vuelta of next season, for example. So, with a mountain finish.
The final section of a race is always very important in the GV percentages.
I agree with you that hills and mountain counts about the same in those classic climbhills races, because of the final hills section.
That is not the case in the climbhill GV percentages of the Australian NT evaluator.
The GV percentages of Lombardia and San Sebastian are not entirely the same, but I cannot remember what the little difference was.
According to my now fast estimated GV percentages (it could be wrong of course) of this 2 climbhills classics races, the list look like this.
And here your Joe is the best Australian cyclist instead of his 4th place in the climbing hills list.
Of course he needs more climb training because section 4 is always decisive in those 2 classic climbhill races.
TP 15 GV Lombardia and San Sebastian =
1 Joe Ryan 20 Manicomicos_Cycling_Team 64,70
2 Nate Henderson 20 FlyEaglesFly 64,64

edit ; And if Joe Ryan could be one of the best CFF cyclists in those classic climbhills races ?
Impossible for me to estimate that right now, because I don't know how good the competition is or will be.
Of course talent rating and how good a manager trains his cyclist are important also.
But if I look at his impressive stats right now, with good training he could be great in those classic climbhills races and your objective can be become a reality. Good luck with Joe Ryan ! :)
-
hahah, understood. Of course, talent counts (his talent and my talent xD), and I know also that for those kind of races, plain and even sprint counts. In my evaluator I always have 2 rankings, climbing-hills and hills-climbing with 39-23 for the first one and 18-34 for the second one (then with different secoundaries and so...of course).
Good to know, that at least, in GV is the best australian (now). He started to train climb today in fact! 90 hills reached!

Riemst, Belgium,
Today a difficult cobble-hills race with finish in the Netherlands. In the pictures the amazing victory of vanderPoel in the hills of Limburg (AGR).
I cannot predict if Australia will be good in this race. We will see what happens.
The selection is a mix of suited GV riders/helpers and good helpers for the first three hills sections. This means some good cobblehills riders are not selected, for example Brubaker and Trump, but they are for sure in the picture of the NT.
One semi-xp cyclist is selected, the very promising 19yo Byers.
Australia NT selection ( in blue the xp ) :
Steve Sampson (20) SentinelChickens 7
Joe Wind (20) Antequera 8
Nate Douglas (20) SentinelChickens 11

Ok, a 6th and 13th place gives 250 points and 3rd in the day ranking.
Up one place in the ranking by countries and now 2nd, just 55 points behind Norway.
But it is all very close, for example the nr6 is 290 points behind, and winning a NT race gives 300 points.
So with 2 more NT races to go, everything might be possible.
Next week a hills time trial in Basque Country, Spain.
-
oohhh, greaat race! And now we are 2nd in the classification!! g0 g0 g0!!
-
Yes, it looks good Franky. :)
For now that is, still anything can happen in the final 2 NT races.
Suddenly 20 more 19yo's. The main reason ; a few days ago 2 new Australian teams came into the game and they start with 19yo's.
The u21 lists will be made tomorrow, the same goes for the NT selection and the preview of NT race 6 ( hills TT ).

I meant: nice!

Well, it seems to me that just one of them is active, because the other team has zero points after 4 days in the 3rd division and no other activity.
And maybe it is good to point out that they have "shady" names ; australis and OscaTeam.
The active team australis ; it can be a coincidence that it looks like Aurora-Australis.
No problem then, that active manager is more than welcome in this game and a good asset to Australia. 8)
By pm I know that Aurora is wondering who this newcomer is.
And the name OscaTeam is according to me very suspicious. Perhaps it is the person who was banned and was using another well-known teamname(s). Of course this is a suspicion of mine that cannot be true. In this case I think I can expres this suspicion because it seems to me that team is not active. I cannot say that for sure because since very recently it is not possible to see the log in dates anymore.

RACE 6 : HILLS TT BEASAIN

Beasain, Basque Country, Spain,
Tomorrow a hills time trial. I really don't know what to expect. Hopefully again very surprising good results as in NT race 4, the flat TT.
It is also possible that Australia is not good in the hills TT compared to the unknown foreign competition. We will see what happens.
Although I think I can guess the GV of this hills-TT pretty good, I selected a wide range of TT-specialists according to several different percentages.
Just in case my own estimated percentages are not good and I don't overlook anyone who might be good enough to score points here.
The many several GV calculations are very different, for example Ablett is selected in case stamina is way lower as I think and for example even Levin is selected in case hills is way lower as I think. And so on, and so on.
And of course 5 cyclists are selected who are the best according to my own estimated GV of this hills-TT.
There was a lot of choice in TT specialists.
So I assume there will be dissapointed young Australian time trialists who wanted a selection for this hills-TT race too.
And a lot of not selected young Aussies were really close in the many very different GV percentages.
Unfortunately, I can select only 9 cyclists. According to me this selection is the best mix to get as many points as possible.
Australia NT selection ( in blue the xp ) :
Owen Acree (20) Aurora_Australis 6
Alistair Mayne (20) Orbea_Monegros 2
Ben Mitchum (20) Aurora_Australis 16
Hank Kewell (20) Frenkie 12
Royce Ray (20) Aurora_Australis 11
Ted Walkins (20) GarruTeam 0
Fenton White (20) Aurora_Australis 4
Martin Ablett (20) Frenkie 5
Richard Levin (20) Aurora_Australis 16
-
Very satisfied with the good results ; Ray 10th and Kewell 11th.
In hinside it is clear my estimated GV percentages could be better, but also satisfied about the selection because I think I selected everyone who could score points here despite the to me surprising results.
Australia scored 230 points in this hills TT, that is the 5th place in the day ranking.
But former season ranking leader Norway scored zero points.
So this means Australia is one place up and now 1st in the season ranking. 8)
And just 1 more NT race to go ! A flat cobble race in Spain.
But I have to point out that it is very close in the season ranking.
Great Britain is suddenly 2nd because they scored the most points in this NT race.
Norway, Portugal, Spain and the Netherlands are also not far behind.

This ranking looks great, but the last NT race is a CFFCC race of 230km.
Norway, Great Britain and Denmark will score a lot of points there, most likely way more as Australia.
And other countries could be better as Australia too, for example the Netherlands is a big CFF country and Spain is a mega-giant CFF country.
But I did not "study" the Australian cobblestone-specialists yet, perhaps there is a chance to finish on the podium in the season ranking.
That would be more than great.
-
Denis Mitchum, in your legs are our hope!! Let's fight for the gold!!!
At least in my division, he is one of the bests...2º in Roubaix without a proper helper, and he has a CFF Record in a similar race (stage 2 of last Paris-Nice). But is true that in the Dream Team, there are at least 4 cob-flat guys...
Is going to be funny
-
Yes, most likely it is your Dennis Mitchum who has to score points/ bring glory to Australia in the next race.
It is not entirely sure if Mitchum will be the team captain, because John Battle is also good and it seems his talent rating is very high, or he trains better in his team as the other cobblestone specialists.
In this specific race there is almost no difference between Mitchum and Battle at the moment.
Both are already selected. The others will be selected later this week because they are really close to eachother right now.
And maybe it is a bit worrying that the other many Australian cobblestone riders are not far behind in GV of the best 2, often a bad sign.
Also the best result of Battle this season, 24th Paris Roubaix in division 2d, can be a bad sign.
His health could not be good because he might be in training-mode and I assume Battle was a helper there. A Russian and a Spaniard were 1st and 2nd in PR of div.2d, 1 minute ahead of Battle and they all are Antequera-cyclists. That team has the numbers 2,3,4,5,8 and 10 in the most recent Australian cobblestones list. Fact is that Antequera does not choose an Australian as team captain, so that is a sign he has better foreign cyclists.
By the way, in Paris-Roubaix of 1A there were 4 good Norwegians with best result 3rd. For what it is worth of course, but I know that at least Norway will score more points in the last NT race. And they are just 175 points behind.
Great Britain is just 45 points behind and they have a dream team cyclist too, in contrast to Australia.
And the next NT race is very wellknown by experienced CFF managers, because it was always stage 2 of the Vuelta in CFF2.
Norway (Atalm93) and Great Britain (Chrisxixon) have very smart and very experienced NT managers, so I doubt if any of my tactical fox tricks will work to stay ahead of these 2 nations.
Of course ; a great motivation this temporarily 1st place and the young Aussies will do everything to get the best result possible.
And Franky, prepare your Denis Mitchum very well this week, he is at the moment the most important Australian cyclist in the game. 8)

The thing is that, Denis has trained always at 70%. I know, it is a shame, but since the beginning, I had better hillers, Denis was the only cobbler that I had, and I never liked too much cob races... Probably the best solution was to sell him, but as I needed different specialists and wanted to compete in 1ª, I thought that having Denis (and other sprint-hills guys) was useful to achieve it.
He is training flat right now, still at 70%.
So, we will see...is going to be hard to maintain the first position, even the second one...but I think we can be 3rd at least.
-
BTW, the idea is to continue as it is now in the National Team right? Vos, you wanna keep the power right? I see $Tourmalet again as a candidate...
P.D: Maybe we can rotate every X seasons...hehe, dont worry, right now i'm not interested, too many years as NT of Great Britain in the last CFF, I think I was the first or the second user with more seasons as NT.
-
Well, it is an honor and a lot of fun to do the NT job again. :)
But in my opinion someone else deserves the pleasure next season.
I have been Australian NT manager for many, many times.
Of course, if there were no (or doubtfull) candidates, then I would gladly do the NT job again.
I see that so far there is already one candidate, $Tourmalet, and I have no doubt that he will be a very good Australian NT manager.
So I will not be a candidate for next season.
Maybe there will be more candidates. And very positive for Australia that we have at least one good candidate already. 8)
-
My only concern is transparency, I know Tourmalet since many years ago, but right now he is not active in the forum (or at least here), I will try to talk with him and convince him to come here and share the rankings and the selected guys for every race and so...
-
I don't expect he will do that, but of course it does not hurt to ask / convince him to do that.
Than he would be even a better candidate as I already thought. And more fun for everyone to follow the Australian NT. :)
This more fun could mean more foreign scouts come to Australia, maybe as result more quality Down Under.
Of course it is up to him to decide whether he will be active on the forum or not.
It is not a requirement of an Australian NT manager. He could be busy with other things. But if he wants a lot of votes, it is an easy choice. ;)
Without forum activity he is also a good candidate.
He replies pm's, he is active in the game, and I assume his selections and tactics will be very good.
And perhaps there will be more candidates.

I'm agree with this, of course. But at least for me, now that the game is starting, is good to know the rankings, and have a bit of knowledge of how good your kids are growing... hehe
-
Ok, I already had a conversation with him...and we agreed that I will help him with the communication, he will give me some details about the weekly race and from time to time we will post the rankings.
So, if he is selected as NT, I will be his Press Officer ;D
-
With such a Press Officer, then $Tourmalet will get my vote for sure. :)
-
Kent McClure is awaiting a call from mr. manager Fox. He knows he might not be the bestflat cobbler, but he's quite sure he has one of the highest 'cobble'-skills, which of course is most relevant in the laste section (for a free role) or in helping other in the last section. Anyway, he's afraid his team mates Konrad, Amund and Rolv would bully him if he's not selected :P.
-
In this specific race there is almost no difference between Mitchum and Battle at the moment.
Both are already selected. The others will be selected later this week because they are really close to eachother right now.
Kent McClure could be one of the others, he has to train good and has to wait this week for a possible NT inventation.
His excellent cobbleskill including his good flat-teamwork combo makes him very suited as helper.
But as you can see in the lists, he has some Australian rivals for a NT selection. Although I never look at just the GV when I select helpers.
edit ; you have too many good Norwegian cobblestone specialists, Zatarra. My advice is to fire them. :P ;)

Haha, I'm still a bit disappointed that all of them still have no cobble-icon. They are a lot worse than a lot of other cobbel riders, given the high amount of cyclist that have an icon (although most of them have cobblehill-icons). The graph learns me (reading the script of the past) that Sele is the best flat cobbler with a GV of 73,70 (whereas 75,00 would mean a bronze-icon). So, a long way to go still.

:o Leo already >74. He will become bronze on sunday before next NT race 8)
-
The selection for the final NT race will be made tomorrow morning.
Because I want to make a proper selection and it is all real close together.
Two training sessions can make a difference who I select, although most likely it does not matter much because Australia is not good on the cobblestones compared to the foreign rivals.
But the 10 remaining candidates for the last 6 spots deserve my effort of a proper selection, because they all ride a lot in their active team.

RACE 7 : Finale on Spanish cobblestones

27ºC (https://www.cyclingforfun.org/cff/imagenes/solnubes.jpg)
Ciudad Real, 200km south of Madrid, Spain,
Today the important final race. Too bad it is on cobblestones because I don't think Australia is good at that, compared to the foreign rivals.
But with the current 1st position in the ranking by countries, it is already certain that the season goal of top10 will be achieved.
A worldchampionship is not possible, but the young Aussies will do everything that is possible to get a podiumplace in the season ranking.
I suspect it will be very difficult, and it would be an amazing result for such a small CFF nation as Australia with just 3 cyclists in the dream team. And 2 out of those 3 are a climb-time-trialist and a hill-sprinter, and there were no suited NT races for them this season.
About the selection ; as I already mentioned earlier, it is really close in Australian cobblestone cyclists.
For example these cyclists deserved a NT selection too ; Wade, Sandfort, Dardar (all Antequera) and Glass, Dowden (both Marineros).
And these 2 teams have more Australians who could be good helpers in this race.
But I can only select 9 cyclists.
The 19yo supertoptalent Friend is also selected, he is almost as good as most others in this selection. In fact, he is not far from the GV of the best 20yo Australian. So there is future hope in Australia on the cobblestones.
For now, I don't expect many points in this final NT race, maybe Australia should be happy if it scores points. Hopefully I'm wrong.
Battle will be the teamcaptain because he has a better finish as Mitchum who has a tiny little bit better GV for this race.
Australia NT selection ( in blue the xp ) :
Denis Mitchum (20) Manicomicos_Cycling_Team 23
John Battle (20) Antequera 8
Henry Foster (20) Antequera 11
Dylan Gilliam (20) Antequera 12
Eric Kelly (20) Antequera 12
Jake Hamilton (20) Marineros 14
Jonny Glass (20) Marineros 9
Kent McClure (20) Zatarra 10
Angus Friend (19) Marineros 10
-
I decided to post the lists for the last time not this weekend, but about 1 day before the season finishes.
A better moment to compare and I have no time today.
Also a separate list of the 19yo Australians will be posted, so train the Aussies well everyone. :)
-
Congratulations for your great job. I've been reading Australian NT thread since the beginning, and I am sure you are the best manager of the season. No matter if Australia is finally in the top3 or not, your performance as NT director is superb: great results, amazing comunication and a lot of effortt and dedication. I hope you finally achieve a podium place, because you actually deserve it. My best wishes for this race.
-
oh, Denis is not the leader finally??
-
Congrats!! Very well done!

-
Yeah, well done, vos!
-
Although, seeing the results, many teams including Australia saw their leaders behind - and have their free roles fight for victory, very well done this entire season, including the last and most feared final race. A well deserved overall victory! :-)
-
AUSTRALIA = WORLD CHAMPION !
About the race :
According to me a weird and very surprising race, this to me well known cobblestone race in Spain.
Almost every Aussie did something else as I expected. Some were dissapointing and some were surprisingly good.
I chose for 5 free role riders (had to try something^^), and also very unexpected to me one of them did great in this final race :
Henry Foster ( Antequera ) finished as 5th. :)
These 180 points were more than enough to stay ahead and be the world champion !
Without this unexpected result of Foster, Australia would have finished as 4th in the season ranking. So, extreme important points.
Ciclokiller : Thank you very much, I appriciate your reaction a lot. ( although I think I was just lucky this season as NT manager )
Of course also thanks to the others who reacted here, also appriciated. 8)
-
The next season is going to be hard for Tourmalet, you let the expectations tooo high. haha
-
Good job!! Well done!!
-
500 of those points came from my team, which is good because I wasn't expecting much until next season or the season after. And my top cyclists have 4 or 5 talents, so it should get better in seasons to come.
-
Great season Vos! Congratz with the World Title!
-
Thanks Astur and B.E-L :)
And of course this world championship is mainly thanks to all the managers who have good Australians and train them well. 8)
This NT season Isaac Trump ( Aurora_Australis ) scored the most Australian points (=200).

Hi.
Thanks for let me be the Australia national team manager.
I know I can´t do better than Vos, but I will try to do the best I can.
I will not write here very often, but I will have Franky helping me in that way.
The first stage we have a Hill one, and I don´t know the level the rest national teams will have, but I think we have good riders.
These are the riders that will fight in the first stage.
Ali Mount NervionBike
Denis Curry Manicomicos_Cycling_Team
Isaac Montgomery vercors
John Jones Oska
Norman Licuria NervionBike
Patrick Fredickson $Tourmalet
Steve Owens Oska
Stu Beal $Tourmalet
Tyler Walker NervionBike

Sorry I forgot to say that our leader is John Jones.
In a few days I will speak with Franky and we will made some rankings. Perhaps there will be little changes with the previous ones, but I suppose they will be very similar. The evaluator that I´m working with, is one that Franky send to me.

Hi, Australian NT manager Miguel. 8)
About this season :
Forget previous season. Australia is 12th in the ranking number of cyclists per country.
So, a nice season goal can be top10.
Hopefully that is realistic, because it seems to me that this season calendar is not positive for Australia.
NT race 1 (hills) and NT race 4 (flat TT) should be good races for the young Aussies.
It can be possible that you break the record of best Australian in a NT race. In previous season that was a 4th place in the time trial.
So a podium place in a NT race can be a nice season goal too.
Because in race 1 also a chance with Jones (nr8 dream team) if the tactics turn out very good in hinsight.
In the other 5 NT races Australia is not good, in my opinion.
Don't expect many points in these races, Miguel.
For sure a possibillity that I can be wrong now, so hopefully a young Aussie can surprise me in of these 5 NT races.
I wish you a lot of good luck this season, Miguel. :)

Go Jones, go, go, go !

Thanks!
I´m a bit nervous for the first race.
If I don´t achieve a good result will be hard the rest of the seasson.
I hope that I had choose a good tactic.

You're welcome.
I think your chosen tactics will be good. But you never know with the NT, often the cyclists do not do what you want.
And don't be nervous, you did everything you could as NT manager. For you it is now sit back, relax, no worries and enjoy.
Because now it is up to the young Aussies to achieve a good result.
If they underachieve, we blame the young Australian cyclists that they have to listen better to you. And give them a punishment, such as they have to wash the bicycles and buses. Down Under the NT manager never gets the blame. :)
And you're right, this first race is important. Because in my opinion Australia is just good in 2 NT races, so they need to score here.
But no worries, because luckily for Australia, also in this season we have a good NT manager. 8)

My cyclist will get points, but not a top 3 this season, the TT NT race is shorter than last season, plus my training is designed for results 2-3+ seasons time, with an extra secret that you'll just have to wait for.
Of course, they'll guarantee enough points so that Australia will always finish healthy (providing there's a flat TT in the season).

All hail the new NT!!

Tyler Walker result was because he was the best helper and the others in front of him were on free role.
And we could win the stage, because Tyler Walker was with 5 efforts in section 4, and I think that he was not in front for very few. The 3 free role riders were all with the same táctic. And it says to me, that we have to give a bit more important to Stamina and Aggressiveness in this races rankings, because with the same tactic Fredickson has been better than Beal and Montgomery, who were supposed to be better. And Fredickson strong points are stamina and aggressiveness.....then....

Olé !
Very well done, the best Australian result ever in a NT race ! 8)
About your text ; it could be. The percentages are estimations, not facts. Adjust them for every race, what you think they should be.

Thanks Vos ;D
The win was posible, but Walker was not able to be with the lider in section 4.
The rankings will change a few. I will adjust some % a bit.
Next stage is quite dificult, but we will try win some points.
-
I am curious if Nelson is already the best plain sprinter of Australia :-)
-
The rankings will be done in a few days. I have to adjust a bit the % in some stages.
