AUSTRALIAN NT - Season 7

Welcome to season 7, and my final season as NT manager for a while. We have two flat TT races. My Richard Levin is complaining that they're 40kms too short; however he can suck it up. Of course the fact they aren't long means finishing 1st isn't a safe bet, but at least we do have a chance of beating the all-powerful Spanish team for quite possibly the final time (unless the Spanish elects a poor NT manager).
We're still going to need decent points in the non-TT races, and can be certain of assistance in the cobbles race 7, however from there it gets into overperform territory yet again (for example my Fraser Morris who's a lowly GB domestique is rated 1.6av higher in pure climbs to Anthony Garza; my silver starred Daniel Cerdan [Spanish domestique] rated 0.6av higher in sprint to Tony Carter [near zero experience]). Still, we have hope for some further luck coming our way.

Just as a personal reference, when I was working in the CBD, I'd take my motorbike over the William Jolly, park it, then jog over the bridge with the lights into work. And do you see the raised platform just above the water going under the William Jolly? That's part of the walking & cycling path, you can just see it sticking out from under the road in the foreground.
And the bridge lights are different colours on different nights.

Other two spots will be to young non-sprinters (there's nobody who I could honestly select). Seriously, if you're starting a new generation of sprinters, send your international scout down to Australia, any half-decent sprinter will get NT experience.
Prospects:15% chance at points, and only because of hope others make errors.

You'd think this would be good news, however the Spanish sabotaged themselves, Hungarians didn't select several top guys, English left their main guy without any support, Americans didn't even show up, & etc, which meant the Dutch have gained at least 200 points they shouldn't have, and now have 1.9 hands on the NT championship.
Unfortunately, they aren't going to be awol when we need them to be.

Unfortunately we have no Caleb Ewan (AUS) in CFF, who won this stage in the real Tour de France of 2019.

The result is 110 points we shouldn't have gotten, so that was cool. I'm only disappointed that it's because other non-Dutch managers did a poor job. I had an alternative plan to completely screw up the results, which I didn't do because I thought the English & others would do a better job & not let WiC gain so many points, so I'm a tiny bit frustrated at that, because this was the last season we were likely to be serious contenders for a championship, and that's now almost out of reach.
Still, we'll be able to finish in 2nd, so that'll be cool.

I unfortunately did some calculations. Australia has next to zero chance in race 5 (not exactly news). If Australia is lucky, and both the Dutch have a bad day & other NT managers show up, you might be unlucky enough to only get 150 points. However in this season the sky is the limit from there. Then race 7, the Dutch have a natural 200+ point advantage, more given the season so far, and one cyclist can't do much tactically about that. Add in the near 1200 disadvantage currently, and factor in a sprinkling of a few points in the TTs, Australia is needing 900 in each TT to have a chance.

At the moment Australia is 2nd in the season ranking, just 205 points behind the Netherlands.
It seems to me that Australia is thé top favorite to become the world champion this season. :)

Denis Anderson's (England) record run of 5 NT wins is broken. The race is also historic because it's the most ever points of an NT team in a single race (and with the 23 & 22 year olds coming up, unless race 6 produces a similar result, it'll never be repeated). Anderson remains slight favourite for race 6.

Well, even if your amazing TT specialists do not succeed in breaking their own record, the current record will be very hard to break for any other country in the future. I estimate that the current Australian record (or new record this Sunday) will remain for a very long time. 8)

About this last sentence, and this remark in your post :

True, because the Netherlands scored zero points in the previous exact same time trial.
And Australia is just 470 points behind at this moment.
Even when the best Dutch TT specialist can score a few points ( in previous TT he was 25th, just 1 second behind the points ), and Australia scores less points as in the previous time trial ; Australia will have a very good lead when NT race 7 starts.
And NT race 7 is on flat cobblestones.
That is perfect for Australia, because "on paper" we are better in flat cobblestones than the Netherlands.
Whether that will be the case in practice, we have to see. Maybe another GV as in the golden list because of the long distance and the 2 flat sections, and maybe there will be storm in this race what makes it tactical interesting and challenging.
But according to me the golden flat cobble list can give a good indication ;
Australia; nr 3 Friend and the numbers 19, 36, 39, 60, 63 - versus - the Netherlands; numbers 45, 46, 47.
Sometimes my predictions come true : ;)
To me it seems the expectations are very high for season 7 ; Australia world champion again ? 8)
To me no doubt that Australia will achieve another very prestigious record ; the most points ever in one season of all countries. 8)
And if Levin can win again, he will have the individual record of most points ever in one season of all cyclists.
But that is an "if" at the moment.
First things first ; Levin has to battle with Jobet (FRA) for the individual world championship of this season.
In the previous time trial Jobet finished as 2nd on just 0:02", so he can be a fierce rival. Good luck, AA !

Congratulations AA. You made the best of the calendar this season with the 2 flat TT's. Too bad not all the best cyclists were at the start in all races for all the nations, but that is not in (y)our hands of course. Great performance of your own well trained cyclists. Keep up the good work! :)

Already sure ; Australia will be the world champion in the most points ever in one season.
Levin finished as 3rd in this time trial, and he will win the individual world championship.

But you are right, Australia benefited of the not registered UK time trialists for NT race 6.
In previous exact same NT race ; 5th (your Anderson ! A shame he was not selected), 13th an 19th for Great Britain.

The missing Spanish riders didn't make much difference, ChessPower's cyclists are no longer top 10 material, but Anderson missing had a potential significant impact. I notice lots of ChronoTony's cyclists up there, so it's going to be very crowded from next season.

Franky, go for it ! So far in CFF3, you were never the NT manager.
And according to me, every good Australian manager deserves to do that fun-job at least once.
The NT job does not take much time, and I can help you in every way you want ( GV%+selection, tactics, and/or forum-previews ) if you are too busy. And even when you are not busy I can help you once, sometimes or every NT race with one of (or all) the things I mentioned.
So far AA (s5, s6 and s7), $Tourmalet (s3 and s4), and me (s2) did the NT job. I think it is Franky-time now. ;)
No pressure of course, it is up to you to decide.
And no worries at all about next NT season, I assume the 3 who have done the NT job already can be a good "back-up" choice.
Probably I have less time for this game too next season, but no problem for me to do this fun-NT-job if there are no candidates.
And who knows, maybe someone else who never did the NT job in CFF3, will be a candidate (too).

Partly thanks to a British no-show, we've set a single race record of 1045 points that will never be beaten. Another victory, but it wasn't Levin, but Trump, who's actually finished ahead of Levin in 4 out of 7 NT top 10 TT races, the victory telling everybody that he deserves equal top billing.
