Title: Transfer List
Post by: Rico on June 11, 2021, 09:37:02 AM
I have said this before in the previous version of CFF but it seems that this is a good time to bring it up again, because this part of the forum is a bit more alive right now.

The same riders are on the transfer list all season for really high prices so that less experienced managers can make a huge mistake and pay 35 million for a solid but far from special rider. In my opinion it should be made harder to put riders on the TL all season long for huge amounts. A few ideas:
- Set a maximum number of times that a team can put the same rider on the TL, for example 3, the 4th time he can only be listed for 1.
- Increase the fee of putting a rider on the TL to a % of the asking price, for example 0.5%.

Any other ideas?

In my opinion, reducing the number of riders in the market is negative. Even if they are not sold.

We do not have so much transfers everyday... so reducing the number of riders would be even worse.

And also, sometimes you do not have money to buy a rider... but you would have paid it. So..., maybe you can get money and buy him a few weeks later :)

PS: Do "less experienced managers" have 35M?  :o :o

I mean... it's sad to check the market and see few riders there... I do not want to see even less!!!!  :'( :'(

Seeing the same overpriced rider in the market all season long does not add anything in my opinion.

It's not that I want riders to disappear from the market, but I think that if you want to list someone 15 times for 35mln, you should pay a bigger price than 15*1000.

And about the 35 mln, new managers have a chance to pull top youth riders as well, so they can make 30+ mln in their first season when they're lucky.

They can bid 35M on a rider thats listed by 1 too

In my opinion, the market is dead because there are not enough riders to be transferred.
How can we get more riders ?
Well, either new users, or more youth pulls...
New users - long story, not going to happen
More youth pulls - add days to rider age, so we won't pull 19tos only in the first 1/3 of the season ;)
(I know, I know, I have said that before  :o)
Or increase number of riders per team to 30

You pay a 10% transfer fee when your rider is sold now? Why not pay 10% of the asking price when you put a rider on the list and only pay 10% fee on the difference between actual price and asking price when the rider is sold? In this way you keep paying the same transfer fee, but asking unrealistic high prices will have ...eh... a high price.

There isn't a shortage of cyclists in CFF, nobody struggles to get enough cyclists for their team.  There's a shortage of cyclists that teams who won't train their own want, that is top cyclists, they want people who spend a year training their own cyclists to give them up, or to hinder those who train their own so their brought cyclists will beat them, there's a difference.

What about asking for the 5% of the selling price as tax for puting a cyclist on the market?

I don't think this will do any good to the market, instead of overpriced riders u will get none at all

Adding restrictions on the market is not going to do any good in my opinion.
If there is a problem with overpriced, then how about adding a Transfer Comparer ? When clicking on a listed rider, you will see the prices of past transfers of similar riders (similar GV in main categories). That will not add restrictions on the market, but deter the listing of riders for extreme prices

Very nice rider. And number one tour rider but at the same time a good example of what is wrong with the transferlist.

50mil is an asking price is way to high in my opinion and giving a wrong idea to new managers that those prices are normal. And if you wait long enough someone will pay it. Obviously more managers thought 50mil is to much because he is sold for 35mil.

I did not follow it if valgren was on the transferlist for three days and then changed or that he was just there as an example and from the moment someone gave a nice offer the price changed.

Valgren is the #1 tour rider in the Dreamteam, I have no problem at all with him being listed for 50 mln or more. Also, he was listed just twice, not 10 times.

Good to see that Ricoo already reacted, because Valgren is for sure not a good example why Ricoo initiated this topic.

Valgren is a good example that for the very few "gems" in this game the market-concept of supply and demand counts.
And a good example that what he is "worth" is subjective, and a different amount to everyone.

For example ;
In my current situation Valgren is to me not "worth" 35M or 50M, despite he is the number 1 DT tour.
If my team was battling for the 1A championship, and if he is the missing link to achieve that, and if I had the money :
then he is "worth" to me more than 50M. And I will bid even more than he is "worth" to me, in case the rivals bid too.

This example can be a "game-philosophy/strategy-issue" because everyone plays this game differently.
A manager can think that my example is a bad buy, especially when I sold him the next season for 7M, he sees it just as a many millions loss.
But another manager (who has more my game-philosophy/game-approach) can think it is an excellent buy despite the many millions loss,
because the real profit was the 1A championship.
What to most managers is almost priceless, and the reason a smart seller uses a market-price-strategy in the way Valgren was sold now.

To me a high price ( and even a way too high price ) for the few "gems" in this game is normal,
but to some others it can be not normal because they play this game with a different game-philosophy,
and I would probably disagree many times with what they think are "normal" prices and what a cyclist should be "worth".
Again, these are subjective issues and to everyone different.
I'm often surprised by many transfers I notice, and in both ways ; sold for way too much, and sold for way too less, in "my opinion".

This topic was initiated because of "just" good cyclists who are clearly overpriced and many times on the transfermarket.
The few good "gems" in this game are not good examples for a "wrong transfermarket", and they will go gor exceptional prices.
In a previous post Valgren is even called as unicorn spotted, what already says enough that this is not a good example.

This topic was initiated because of "just" good cyclists who are clearly overpriced and many times on the transfermarket.
This makes it almost* look like that only an unexperienced manager will buy such a cyclist for way too much money.
*almost = because sometimes it is hard to estimate this,
and there can be rare exceptions that even an experienced manager can buy such a clearly overpriced cyclist, to him he can be "worth" it.

So for a huge part I agree with that it almost looks like a "trap" to unexperienced managers.
Although personally I don't mind to see such cyclists on the tranfermarket many times.

Also a solution can be that unexperienced managers get better support to prevent they go all in with their money on a very bad buy.
They can use better support anyway, due to the many big mistakes I see with the bad free riders choices.
Maybe an extra warning text on their team page for the first months, including a warning for the transfermarket,
and/or advice to consult an experienced manager first before hiring free riders ánd many millions buys.

Well you'd expect new players to ask the manager they've selected to be their helper these questions, but they don't (I've found that I've normally initiated conversation & they don't).

Still I do not agree as valgren as a gem but with 50mil most of the time overpriced as vos said.

It is normal for the manager to hope and ask for 50mil if another manager needs Valgren but that is not what the transfermarket is for.
Now it was done correct, the price was lowered.

But for this purpose there was the ‘available to buy’ market. Put a rider on it so other managers know, if I want him I can pay this amount or there is an option to negotiate.
