Supporter nemen ;)

En met 2 trainingen kan het ook. Duurt alleen iets langer om nauwkeurig het talent vast te stellen.

Inderdaad, je hebt een paar opties;

1. Supporter kopen. Tientje voor 6 maanden spelplezier.

I disagree. The more GV-difference, and the slower you can ride with the helper -> Bigger bonus.

First the difference in what is a good fit and tactics between leader and helper when it comes to GV depends on the stage.
I hardly race any stage with a helper where the GV-difference is lower than 5 if I have a choice.
The only thing I do agree with is that lower differences in GV-value (easier to set tactics) :).

E.G I had a GV-difference of 12 points in stage 1 of PN between my captain and leader. I still managed to keep him with his leader until the end and ended up 2nd with my leader in the stage.  :)

12? They usually loose contact in the first section when I race, except perhaps in flat or downhill sections.

Yes.  I do this all the time to support my GC-riders. In flat stages the GV-difference is often far more than 12...

And, yes Vos. There are other factors as well, I just pointed out that it is not true at all, that 5 GV-difference is too large a difference...  ;D

I think we are looking at this from different perspectives.

1) Stage-win contender with support
2) GC-rider with support from a specialist.

BEL describes it from the perspective of a stage-win contender, Atalm from the GC-perspective.

There is so much information you can use to get to a certain theory, but I think in general the text of BEL is right.
Someone who is going for the win will use 5 points in the end, so in the previous 4 sectors he will use 7 points. A helper will use 12 points in 4 sectors. A difference of 5 for 4 sectors. In some way you have to find out to use maybe one sector the same amount (downhill is perfect). So you can use a bigger difference in other stages.

For me I check the difference in GV aswell, above 6/7 GV difference I will have a goal to keep them with my leader until the 3rd sector, just to be safe and make sure he always has a helper if the tactic of other helpers is too dangerous.

I can make a comment on something that has been said in one of the previous posts but it's not for this forum.
And probably not suited for this forum either, because he keeps bringing up things from the past and it gives endless stupid blames.
I want to prevent that. Good, because I don't want to prevent a forum to be educational and fun.

In the other topic you say that the guy who came up second was your helper and not your leader. That does make a big ass difference!

I never compare GV-values, but I somehow manage to come up with decent tactics for the helpers. Much of what has been said in the post above is true. My experience however is that using low EP's in downhill sections with your helper is not desirable. Too many times, my leader managed to get back (helped by the helper of course), but the helper got stuck in a later group. My suggestion would be to always use at least 2-3 EP more with helpers in downhill sections.
You can however use the same amount of EP, mainly in flat sections. Most cuts are made in the first and section section of a flat race, so if the third and fourth sections are also flat, you can try to use 0 EP.

Yeah, I can see I wrote wrong. I ended up 2nd with my helper of course :).

As mentioned above, we have been speaking of different things. Im talking GC, and the other for stage win, and how much less good a helper should be.
In that I can to a certain degree agree with BEl aswell. Whether your helper can keep up with a leader with 5 EP more until the end, then entirely depends on how good your leader is in terms of favourite :).

Yes totaly agree, and it should always be your goal to keep them there until the last sector, sometimes you know it will be almost impossible because the GV difference is too big and then you should just try to stay with him 2 or 3 sectors.
But is no exact theory and every division is different as well  ;)

Mine helper is 20 GV lower than my captain. But it is for GC and only flat coble and hills and he has this stage my captain a place 18 so it was a great stage with a bad helper
