17    Garret Rose   28   Combuijs   3: 44"   40   9000

4 riders in the top 17 and most important, we had a winner by the name of Adam Neeskens!

Vuelta:
1st stage: 1. Adam Neeskens, 22. Julius Maalderink, 23. Arjen Rutte
2nd stage: 4. Julius Maalderink, 7. Adam Neeskens, 8. Arjen Rutte

6th stage: 16. Julius Maalderink
7th stage to Santiago de Compostela: 10. Julius Maalderink, 23. Adam Neeskens

The GC:

1    Emanuele Rebellin   27   Bergtoppers   0: 00"   0   0

5    Arjen Rutte   28   Combuijs   2: 44"   0   0

Three riders in the top 5, that's what I call domination! Unfortunately, all three can't climb a mountain...

Division standings after the 7th stage of the Vuelta

1º      $Tourmalet   23263   11   11   9
2º      cave   19538   13   12   9
3º      Bergtoppers   16497   17   8   3
4º      Combuijs   15366   6   6   10
5º      WaterBoys   10927   2   4   5
6º      Shiro_Lions   10848   11   2   5

We are still looking for a third place. Water Boys is now threatened by Shiro Lions for a promotion place. They were not as save as previouslu thought then.

Vuelta:
9th stage: 5. Julius Maalderink, 7. Adam Neeskens, 8. Arjen Rutte
10th stage: 12. Valentin Litenko

The GC:

1    Emanuele Rebellin   27   Bergtoppers   0: 00"   1000   250000
2    Sam Lee   28   $Tourmalet   2: 25"   800   225000
3    Adam Neeskens   28   Combuijs   4: 02"   650   200000
4    Neil Fluss   27   WaterBoys   4: 40"   550   175000
5    Julius Maalderink   28   Combuijs   4: 53"   500   150000
6    Arjen Rutte   28   Combuijs   5: 23"   450   125000
7    Tyler Carpenter   28   Puncheurs   5: 29"   400   100000
8    Frank Myers   28   CajaRuralZamora   6: 57"   350   87500
9    Róbert Lengyel   28   CajaRuralZamora   7: 32"   300   75000
10    Valentin Litenko   28   Combuijs   7: 34"   250   62500

Podium place for Adam Neeskens and 4 riders in the top 10. Happy with that result!

Giro de Lombardia: 1. Tristan Prins
WC Time trial: 26. Oliver King
WC Hamilton: 21. Adam Neeskens

A win in Lombardia and some meaningless points in the World Championships? To the former: yes! To the latter: no, these were very important points for Adam Neeskens.

Not because we finished 3rd in the final division standings:

1º      $Tourmalet   27228   12   12   10

49º      CsongaBK   0   0   0   0
50º      Senglarsdeflandes   0   0   0   0

We did not, we finished 4th, disappointingly behind Bergtoppers, who had a very good season. (And Shiro Lions just made it for the last promotion place versus Water Boys).

But the last points were important because Adam Neeskens took the first place in the individual rankings:

1º      Adam Neeskens   28   4709   Combuijs   2   3   3
2º      Emanuele Rebellin   27   4642   Bergtoppers   4   3   1
3º      Hartwig Adenauer   28   4564   cave   3   1   3

7º      Joaquin Palomeque   28   3571   Shiro_Lions   0   0   0
8º      Ivan Chiapucci   28   3251   $Tourmalet   1   1   3
9º      Kirk Trump   28   2888   $Tourmalet   2   3   0
10º      Mikael Nikoladze   28   2854   $Tourmalet   3   0   0
11º      Will Miller   28   2688   Combuijs   0   1   2

28º      Julius Maalderink   28   1901   Combuijs   1   0   0
40º      Arjen Rutte   28   1441   Combuijs   0   0   1
46º      Valentin Litenko   28   1336   Combuijs   2   0   0

This was a season that fitted Adam very good, so apart from being promoted this was an important aim.

Other points:

Tristan Prins   28   1027         756
Garret Rose   28   532         002
Dénes Nemcsik   28   385         001
Rafael Szepesi   28   278         992

So, back to the World Tour. Let's hope we can stay in, although our main goal is still training our youthful riders. With that in mind we have another bronze statue for Colin Cann:

We will switch to cobble training now...

Everything set for the new season, which will start better as the previous one, because we have subscribed for the cup...

We will seriously try to stay on the World Tour this season, so let's hope everyone on the Tour will cooperate a bit. We wish everyone good luck (and in the cooperation  :-* )!

We will need all the luck!

I just realised our riders could be in the U-23 dream team and indeed we have two:

   Job Freriks   LOSRAYOSDELARRY   22   Tours
   Aivars Lejnieks   BOS   22   Tours
   Afonso Rio   OphiukoCT   22   Tours
   Yvo VanStraalen   Combuijs   22   Tours
   Julien Maekelberg   LOSRAYOSDELARRY   22   Tours
   John Paxson   Combuijs22   Tours
   Zsombor Endrõdi   azerite   22   Tours
   Paul Vilu   ChessPower   22   Tours
   Carlos Aranguren   Spitz   22   Tours
   Alexey Ryazanov   Spitz   22   Tours

Yvo van Straalen comes as no surprise and with his maximum talent and relative low stats for sprint, hills and cobbles he should make some serious gains. John Paxson is a surprise though, the UCI evaluation for tour riders is seriously different from my own. I would have thought Hidde Daelman, Gary Fredickson and Friso Vonk are much better. My undervaluation for time trial could have something to do with it, and maybe an overvaluation for cobbles. I don't know.

Anyway, happy with two riders in the Tour dream team!

Out again with the big boys on the World Tour where points are a rarity...

Tour Down Under:
2nd stage: 7. Tristan Prins
5th stage to Lyndoch: 17. Dénes Nemcsik

The first one was a pretty good result of a leader without any help, last one was an enlightened race...

Division standings after the Tour Down Under:

1º      TeamRHB   944   1   1   0
2º      °Peachy°Melocotons   739   0   0   0
3º      SPORTLIFE   554   1   0   0
4º      WinterIsComing   504   0   0   0
5º      SaulSalinasTeam   453   1   1   0
6º      CaptainOrange   444   0   1   2
7º      Yvo_Meppelink_ProCycling   430   1   0   0

33º      galegospolabici   110   0   0   0
34º      BLOEMENAANDEMITTE   104   0   0   0
35º      Combuijs   100   0   0   0
36º      Bikeos   100   0   0   0

A good start by some (more or less) Dutch teams. We are already in the red light district, which is normal after the Tour Down Under...

Meanwhile we have switched training to sprint again...

In the battle against relegation we had some most welcome points, of course not by our youngsters:

Omloop het Nieuwsblad: 10. Garret Rose
Strade Bianchi: 17. Garret Rose

Paris-Nice
1st stage to Aix-en-Provence: 27. Oliver King

The second stage brought the first win by Tilburg Terriers on the World Tour, of course thanks to Pascal Cruijff.

Division standing after the 2nd stage of Paris-Nice:

1º      Cabrasverdes   1560   1   1   0
2º      TeamRHB   1426   1   1   0
3º      Zatarra   1398   1   1   1
4º      °Peachy°Melocotons   1229   0   0   2

8º      SaulSalinasTeam   821   1   1   0
9º      WinterIsComing   750   0   0   0
10º      SPORTLIFE   687   1   1   0
11º      Wiggo_pupils   651   0   0   1

19º      Flyvende_hjul   478   0   0   0
20º      TilburgTerriërs   468   1   0   1
21º      ProdopingPong   438   0   0   0

22º      SentinelChickens   396   0   0   0
23º      Combuijs   383   0   0   0
24º      CC_Porco_Jones   381   0   0   0

35º      Psychoedge   225   0   0   0
36º      BLOEMENAANDEMITTE   194   0   0   0
37º      BorinotTeam   189   0   0   0

As usual at this time of the season we are outside the relegation zone. For now...

Paris-Nice
4th stage: 13. Arjen Rutte
5th stage: 9. Oliver King

That was a very good result by Oliver King, but unfortunately sponsor Alert thought it was one place too low to sponsor us. Frankly, I don't know what they alert for in the first place...

Tirreno-Adriatico:
4th stage: 18. Rafael Szepesi accompanied by a nice lightbulb
5th stage to Salsomaggiore Terme: 23. Rafael Szepesi

In the GC we had Valentin Litenko on place 16, more than 4 minutes behind winner Melocoton Rafael Carlos Loinaz.

Division standings after the Tirreno-Adriatico:

1º      °Peachy°Melocotons   2870   0   1   2
2º      Cabrasverdes   2760   2   2   1
3º      TeamRHB   1867   1   1   0
4º      CaptainOrange   1780   1   1   2
5º      Codex   1573   1   1   1
6º      Zatarra   1563   1   1   1
7º      WinterIsComing   1558   0   0   1
8º      SPORTLIFE   1538   1   3   2
9º      Wiggo_pupils   1435   0   0   1

27º      Marcatone_Due   592   0   0   0
28º      Combuijs   590   0   0   0
29º      BLOEMENAANDEMITTE   498   0   0   0
30º      Ciclastur   475   0   0   0

Still on the right side of the red line and one place ahead of Bloemen aan de Mitte, so what else could we possibly want? To last it forever...

Milan - San Remo:
Good results by Winter Is Coming (Vigo), Tilburg Terriërs (Cruyff), Zatarra (Isupov) and TeamRHB (Arno Verbeek). We can only say that this stage is just one hill too far for our Rafael Szepesi..

E3 Harelbeke: 7. Adam Neeskens 23. Garret Rose
In hindsight we might have used a slightly more attacking tactics, but we will settle for this.

Volta Catalunya:
No results whatsoever yet, but we hope to change that this evening...

In Oliver King we have now a cyclist of which everyone says that you can't be more experienced than him.

For what it's worth Yvo van Straalen is now third in the UCI U23 Tour rankings, John Paxson has gone down to place 6.

Volta Catalunya:
5th stage: 20. Tristan Prins

Gent-Wevelgem: 16. Adam Neeskens
Ronde van Vlaanderen: 14. Adam Neeskens

Itzulia:
No points yet, although we hope Tristan Prins and Oliver King might take some...

Division standings after the 2nd stage in the Itzulia:

1º      Cabrasverdes   5867   3   4   2
2º      °Peachy°Melocotons   4972   1   1   3

13º      SPORTLIFE   2001   1   4   2
14º      FaltososDeChigre   1976   0   0   1
15º      Yvo_Meppelink_ProCycling   1961   1   3   0
16º      Valderend   1948   0   1   2
17º      $Tourmalet   1838   3   0   0
18º      TilburgTerriërs   1777   1   1   2

25º      SentinelChickens   1132   0   0   0
26º      Combuijs   1115   0   0   0
27º      Thorboassonarvesen   1052   2   1   0

We are hanging on, but as this is usually our strongest part of the season, we should fear the worst...

We have switched our training to hills again...

Itzulia:
3rd stage: 26. Oliver King
5th stage: 28. Oliver King

Paris-Roubaix: 24. Julius Maalderink

Tour de Romandie:
1st stage to Leukerbad: 26. Will Miller

This indeed seems to be a leuker bad...

Not many points score and this is reflected in the division standings after the 1st stage in the Tour de Romandie:

1º      Cabrasverdes   6918   3   5   2

At least you're in the hunt, and you don't have to worry about my cyclists fighting positions with yours (our cyclists don't compete).

This time the coin has fallen on the right side, we are above the relegation line for the time being. And that time might be very short...

On the bright side: Yvo van Straalen is now considered the best tour rider of his age. John Paxson is on number 9.

Some good results and very useful points in the Giro:

2nd stage: 10. Will Miller
4th stage: 19. Will Miller, 25. Valentin Litenko
5th stage to Santa Maria del Cedro: 5. Rafel Szepesi, 22. Dénes Nemcsik

In the GC Will Miller is 15th, almost 3 minutes behind Captain Orange leader Antony Hilton.
