Henttala won stage 1, sprinting past late attacker Schrempf on the final metres to win a crash-marred sprint.

Balsamo ( 4x picked ) was one of the riders involved in a horrible high-speed crash with 150 metres to go.
She fractured her nasal bone and has a concussion. Also Bertizollo ( 2x picked ) was involved in the crash, and also she DNS today.

Solo victory of Alaphilippe in stage 12.

Jakobsen ( 4x picked ) was involved in a crash in the final of stage 11, and DNS in this stage 12.

So far the most lucky CFF participants are AJFactoryCycling and Teamclaes with just 1 abandonned cyclist.
Combuijs and Vos are unfortunate with 4 abandonned cyclists.
The most unlucky one is the stage winner of today, Aurora Australis, he has a team of just 10 cyclists now.

The 22yo Vangheluwe celebrated too early, but luckily for him,
the photo finish determined him as winner before Bennett who was the fastest of the peleton sprint.

Milan wins his 3rd sprint stage in this Giro. In the picture he celebrates it with his teammates, who did a perfect lead-out.
