news of yesterday evening :
The organisers of Strade Bianche, Tirreno-Adriatico, and Milan-San Remo are set to be forced to cancel the races after the Italian government called a halt to all sporting and public events for a month in an attempt to limit the spread of the coronavirus Covid-19.

next tour :
  23 hours left to join. ( 2019= Vos, 2018= pizzaboys, 2017= AJFactoryCycling )
Some major WT teams decided not to participate in PN because of the corona virus.

The upcoming schedule of March looks a bit empty without the cancelled cycling races in Italy.

So far Paris-Nice does not live up to his nickname ; it is mostly rain and very windy.
Schachmann win stage 1 and Nizzolo wins stage 2.

CFF League :
stage 1 winner = Kalarratas  8)
stage 2 winner = Patrick Kok   8)
Xavier Giné is the GC leader with 6 more stages to go.

Although i.m.o. there is a possibility PN will finish sooner because of the corona virus. Also in France it is going really fast at this moment.
Actual ( 30 minutes ago ) Coronavirus Cases in France = 1,412
Active Cases = 1,370 ( Currently Infected Patients 1,304 (95%) in Mild Condition / 66 (5%)Serious or Critical
Closed Cases = 42 ( Cases which had an outcome: 12 (29%)Recovered, Discharged / 30 (71%)Deaths

Andersen (in the picture) wins stage 4, the time trial. Bonifazio wins sprint stage 5. Schachmann is still the GC leader.

CFF League :
stage 4 winner = Patrick Kok   8)
stage 5 winner = Xavier Giné   8)
Xavier Giné is still the GC leader with (maybe*) 3 more stages to go.

*= There is a chance Paris Nice will be cancelled.
For now, besides PN, the cycling schedule is completely empty till the 3rd of April, because of the Coronavirus.
It is officially a worldwide pandemic now, so it is uncertain what will happen next month.

Just before Paris-Nice I made an update of the season trophies. But due to the Coronavirus there are no cycling races for a long period.
So a good moment to actualize it again, although not much changed with the addition of only Paris-Nice.

All the best to everyone in this difficult pandemic period, and success in everyone's important personal struggle not to spread the virus.

Yes, "everyone" is in the plane right now from Romania to Spain. ;)
It is a very small plane, hahaha.

The Vuelta a Burgos is the first real test case after the many corona-months without cycling races,
Never this little tour in the north of Spain had such strong competition with 15 World Tour teams, and many top cyclists at the start.
It will be interesting to see how everyone does, and in what shape they are in.
I assume almost everyone is motivated, and there are not many opportunities to test to the max with the upcoming extreme full calendar.

The picture (of Lampaert) shows it is the corona era ; a mandatory mask at start- and finish place, and a temperature check before the start.
A solo victory of Großschartner in a thrilling first stage.

CFF League :
stage 1 winner = GaoYao   8)
GaoYao won the Vuelta a Burgos in 2019, so the defending champion has an excellent start.
