That's not good.  I sometimes wonder whether their massively excessive caffeine drug use is contributing to the rate of problems in this area.

Update news of Colbrelli ; it seems he is alright,
but more tests are needed to determine what caused the unstable cardiac arrhythmia that required immediate defibrillation.

Online there is a lot of speculation what caused this, I did not read anything about a caffeine drug ( caffeine is bad for the heart, imo ),
but for example Colbrelli tested a few times positive for Covid this season, some speculate this has something to do with it.
Also there are speculations that he overtrained himself to return in topform after he was ill, combined with the uphill finish yesterday.
For example, at the last moment the decision was made not to ride "his" MSR ; he was not healthy enough despite intensive training for MSR.
Better than speculation = the medical tests tomorrow in the Hospital Universitari de Girona.
A fact is that Colbrelli was lucky that Saenz de Cos ( emergency nurse ) gave him the prompt+right+needed medical assistence.

van Aert and Laporte finished off a superb team performance,
taking 1st and 2nd after they attacked together over the Paterberg with 40km to race and time trialed to victory in Harelbeke.

Laporte occasionally struggled to come through and share the work with van Aert and so after a handshake and a hug,
he allowed his team leader to cross the line first as they rode side by side in celebration ( see picture ).

Behind a chase-group of eight quality riders could do nothing to close the gap despite working together for the last hour of racing.
They lost seconds with every kilometre, eventually finishing two minutes behind van Aert and Laporte.
Küng made a late attack to edge away and took the 3rd place.

van der Poel won Dwars door Vlaanderen
after a select group of eight riders attacked each other in the final kilometres in a battle of race tactics and raw attacking power.

The Dutchman missed several late attacks but produced a final, decisive surge to join Benoot with 1.5km to go
and then blew his Belgian rival off his wheel with a long sprint to the line.
Pidcock finished as 3rd by winning the sprint of the chasing group.
