Wellll.... thats a blow. Vlasov gone and Fuglsang without any climbing helpers.

Another Astana rider out of the Giro, that team has just 6 riders left and the Giro just started.
And indeed, now Fuglsang has to do it on his own in the mountains.
In the CFF League 19 (out of 21) participants wasted 2 stars by picking Vlasov.
But Vlasov abandon, that might could affect the just 10 participants who picked Fuglsang. ( I picked them both )

Ulissi wins the uphill sprint in stage 2. Ganna keeps the maglia rosa.

PieterJanVB is the new GC leader.



Roglič wins LBL in a spectaculair and extraordinary five-man sprint to the finishline.
The picture shows Alaphilippe celebrated premature what was a big mistake and thé reason Roglič won with a very tiny difference.

After this dramatic finish, Alaphilippe was even judged to have diverted from his sprinting line, after a sharp swerve what caused that Hirschi his shoe came lose of the pedal ánd his sprint was interrupted, also Pogačar his sprint was interrupted. The race officials decided to demote Alaphilippe to the fifth place. Hirschi 2nd and Pogačar 3rd.

In my opinion Hirshi would have won if the sprint was normal, but I could be wrong and we will never know what would have happened if.
Fun to know if you have another opinion, so please express that in this topic. Anyway, it was an amazing finish to watch.

A lot happened in stage 3 to mount Etna. Caicedo of the early break away won solo and missed by less than a second the pink jersey.
Almeido is the new GC leader. Top favorite Yates had a bad day and lost much time.
And the other top favorite, especially after his great time trial, Thomas had a very unfortunate crash in this stage 3.
Despite his injuries he made it to the finishline, many minutes behind the rival GC contenders. But today he did not start in stage 4.

In sprint stage 4 it was really close between Démare, Sagan and Ballerini ( see finish photo ). Démare won.

A break away group of 3 sprinted for victory. Alaphilippe was almost punished again for the same mistake he made in LBL ; cheering too soon.
But this time Alaphilippe won although it was again really close, van der Poel 2nd and Cosnefroy 3rd.

Steven Kruijswijk tested positive for the corona virus. He and the whole team of Jumbo-Visma is out of the Giro.

4 staffmembers of Mitchelton-Scott tested positive for the corona virus.
Their teamcaptain Yates was already out of the Giro a few days ago due to a positive test, now the whole team is out of the Giro.

Michael Matthews ( Team Sunweb ) tested positive for the corona virus, and he is out of the Giro.
All his other team mates and staffmembers tested negative and they will stay in the Giro for now.
